"Parker," said Janet as she left a voice mail. "You know how to spend money. I have Dr. Pierson's credit card, and instructions to--and I quote--'go to town' when buying for the assistants' party. Therefore, we are going to go to town. Want to help me spend somebody else's hard-earned cash?"

Janet smiled smugly and walked into the NPC Upscale Deli to wait for Parker.

"You *know* I'm on my way. Be there in ten."

Parker showed up rubbing her hands and looking delighted. "He actually gave you his card? That silly, silly, dear man. Heh."

"He was a little distracted, the poor fool," said Janet. She had a basket that was already loaded with a selection of cheeses and some shrimp cocktail. "But we've been in there all day, every day, all semester. And he's leaving us. We deserve this."

"Hell yes, we do," Parker agreed vehemently. "Let's see. And fruit, grab some grapes and pears to go with the cheeses." She looked around, and spotted the lobster tails (https://www.livelob.com/lobstergram/shop?method=category&catid=BIGMAINE). "Ooo, and we need garlic butter to go with these. I don't think the others would like watching live ones boil, but the tails shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"The tails will be just fine," said Janet. "And some maple walnut fudge for dessert. To start. Maybe some chocolate too."

Janet put those carefully in the basket and headed off towards the caviar.

And maybe cheesecake."

"I think I see the cheesecake," said Janet.

"But first, wine to go with dessert." She frowned down at the cart. "Two bottles of wine with dessert, as they're half bottles. As well as some champagne for the food." She glanced at Parker and smiled mischeviously. "We'll hide the bottles and call it sparkling grape juice if anybody asks."

Virtuously, Parker said, "We would *never* drink alcohol near the books... without offering the Library some." "What are we forgetting? Cheese, meat, fruit, alcohol, chocolate, caviar, pate...."

"A loaf of bread or two?" asked Janet. "We got grapes, did we pick up apples?" She put all of those items in the cart.

"We should be good tomorrow. Totally unable to assist anyone with anything, possibly, but we should be good. Oh, plates, glasses, silverware, and napkins."

Parker grabbed a large loaf of French bread, and then picked out about half a dozen Granny Smith and Tulip apples. "As a small nod to health, yay. Napkins-- here. And silverware." She grabbed a half dozen clear plastic sets, then pointed to the plastic champagne glasses. "Tacky, tacky, but not breakable, get those, will you?"

Janet grabbed the plastic glasses. "Also, easily disposable. I think we're good, don't you?"

Parker chortled evilly. "We could pick out a duck and about a million sausages and an entire chocolate fondue, but yeah. This should work. Got the card?"

Janet held it up and smiled guilelessly. "I'm just doing what the boss said, right?"

"And we would never, ever disobey Dr. Pierson when he tells us to 'go crazy'," Parker intoned piously, then grinned. "Let's go!"
