NPC Upscale Deli

"Parker," said Janet as she left a voice mail. "You know how to spend money. I have Dr. Pierson's credit card, and instructions to--and I quote--'go to town' when buying for the assistants' party. Therefore, we are going to go to town. Want to help me spend somebody else's hard-earned cash?"

Janet smiled smugly and walked into the NPC Upscale Deli to wait for Parker.

"You *know* I'm on my way. Be there in ten."

Parker showed up rubbing her hands and looking delighted. "He actually gave you his card? That silly, silly, dear man. Heh."

"Hell yes, we do," Parker agreed vehemently. "Let's see. We need some pate' (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00012195C/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_1/104-3302011-8210324) to go with that, the good stuff, the kind everyone usually likes. Hmmm. And fruit, grab some grapes and pears to go with the cheeses." She looked around, and spotted the lobster tails (https://www.livelob.com/lobstergram/shop?method=category&catid=BIGMAINE). "Ooo, and we need garlic butter to go with these. I don't think the others would like watching live ones boil, but the tails shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Parker grabbed three jars (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000BV9KP4/sr=1-6/qid=1135048037/ref=sr_1_6/104-3302011-8210324?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3580501&s=gourmet-food&v=glance) and dumped them in the cart, then looked around for little toasty things (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000BV9KP4/sr=1-6/qid=1135048037/ref=sr_1_6/104-3302011-8210324?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3580501&s=gourmet-food&v=glance) to eat them off. "Gotcha. Hmm. We need pie. And ooo! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006BCMN6/sr=1-3/qid=1135048415/ref=sr_1_3/104-3302011-8210324?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3595611&s=gourmet-food&v=glance) Blinis and raspberries! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006BCRYA/sr=1-5/qid=1135048415/ref=sr_1_5/104-3302011-8210324?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3595611&s=gourmet-food&v=glance) Do you see where they're hiding the pie? And maybe cheesecake."

Virtuously, Parker said, "We would *never* drink alcohol near the books... without offering the Library some." She grinned, and grabbed a cheesecake (http://www.wine.com/gourmetfood/gourmetfood_detail.asp?PProduct_ID=JJL143_0&Nu=p_family_name) out of the case, then looked around, frowning. "What are we forgetting? Cheese, meat, fruit, alcohol, chocolate, caviar, pate...."

Parker grabbed a large loaf of French bread, and then picked out about half a dozen Granny Smith and Tulip apples. "As a small nod to health, yay. Napkins-- here. And silverware." She grabbed a half dozen clear plastic sets, then pointed to the plastic champagne glasses. "Tacky, tacky, but not breakable, get those, will you?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Parker chortled evilly. "We could pick out a duck and about a million sausages and an entire chocolate fondue, but yeah. This should work. Got the card?"

"And we would never, ever disobey Dr. Pierson when he tells us to 'go crazy'," Parker intoned piously, then grinned. "Let's go!"

[[I said, "Go to town" not "go crazy". Hrumph.]]
