"The twins are both open, Dallas is taken, and Carmen's open," she said, smiling. "What do you feel like? Someone known and blonde, someone known and gray, or someone new?"
"Two. Weeks. Becky." GOB said as quickly as he could while still speaking slowly. "With nothing but that kiss under the mistletoe from you. By the way, good work with that. You are a master at your craft," he said, impressed.
"That's nice. I hope you have fun," GOB said, very happy for her. Really. He was big on small talk right now. "I'm sure Miho and I will get along just fine next time I'm in."
He wasn't waiting desperately for permission to go to Wendy's room without being sliced. Really.
"I work with him over Caritas. It would have been weird to do business with him here, too," GOB said, really wanting to be allowed back to Wendy's room.
"Oh, definitely, very nice, he deserves a gift certificate to this place. In fact, when I come back to pay, I'll even give the money for one." GOB was nearly bouncing out of frustration.
"Oh, that's too ba... There's an employee discount?" For a moment, GOB tried to figure out whether or not a brothel needed a magician.
Then his mind was back on his current problem. Maybe a gift. With a quick movement of his hands, he was presenting Becky with a watch. "Merry Christmas, by the way," he said.
"He came to you before he was lost." Drusilla leaned against the door frame, rocking back and forth slowly. "Something in you called him then. It wouldn't call him now."
"Daddy's gone far away." She sighed heavily, then ran her black-tipped fingernails up and down the door frame. "Hadn't you heard? I thought everyone knew he'd sailed across the sea, and sent a horrid little angel in his place."
She stopped moving, and looked sharply into the girl's eyes. "The sea was as blue as your eyes, and he's lost in it now. Can't make his way back to me."
Drusilla's answering smile was barely more than a slight curve of her lips, but her eyes gleamed. "Such a bright girl you are," she said. "I'd give you high marks, but they won't have me back at school since I cracked a slate over their soft, squishy little skulls."
"Ooh, how very pretty and sharp," said Drusilla, leaning forward and staring at the blade. "I hear them crying at me. Soft little sobs and whimpers that make me want to dance."
"I said," repeated Drusilla slowly. "He's my daddy. I don't play dress-up for him the way you did. He laid me out on a funeral pyre and burned my heart to ashes."
Becky smiled. "I have guns, too, but the blades are more fun, really."
She blinked, and chose her words carefully. "So, he's your daddy. He doesn't sound like he was very nice to you. Did he do that before or after he got a soul shoved in him?"
"I had a crown, and Daddy would have set the stars in it for me, if only I'd thought to ask." Drusilla reached out to take Darla's hand. "But now he's flayed with holly and doesn't like the coal St. Nicholas leaves in his stockings."
Sometime after he went to Wendy's room and a LONG TIME after the creepy lady leaves because no way is he going to be anywhere near her, GOB staggered out to the desk, smiling like a big, smarmy dork. "Thank you again, Becky," he said as he leaned on the desk for a moment. "Have a very merry Christmas."
As he walked toward the door, Becky might notice that GOB had left a playing card on the desk. It was indeed the Queen of Hearts, the card he was attempting to leave.
The fact that there was a Three of Clubs and a Seven of Diamonds below it made the move only a bit less cool.

"Want to take a minute and think about baseball so you get your money's worth?" she drawled.

It was, of course, a man's watch.

Even if not everybody liked to play the same way.
"Painted like porcelain," said Drusilla. "But only the eyes. What did he see in them, I wonder?"

"Hi. Can I help you?"

"Daddy? You mean...Angelus?" she grinned.

She leaned back, propping her feet up on the desk. "So, you know Angelus. What's your interest in him?"
no subject
"I said he was my daddy." She looked at Becky curiously. "Weren't you paying attention?"

"And he liked it when I called him 'Daddy', too," she explained, "but he wasn't actually my dad. Is he yours?"
