The Park, Tuesday Evening.

Anyone passing by the park this evening would see a rather unusual sight.

A man clad in what looked like green velvet, clutching a large, glowing green stone, and suspended by a complicated rigging system, suddenly appeared out of thin air.

Over the duck pond.

The man hung there for several moments before gravity seemed to realise that the rigging was no longer attached to anything and reasserted itself.

ker-SPLASH!

Watching from his usual bench in the park, Aziraphale jumps a little at the splash -- not really so much at the sight of a man falling out of thin air, but more out of concern for the ducks that he might have fallen onto.

Oh, well, and concern for a man who just ended up in a duck pond in the middle of winter, of course.

[ooc: Couldn't resist. Whoo! Autolycus! *g*]

"Of course, my dear." Aziraphale stands and walks toward the pond, offering his hand to help the man out. He frowns at the wet clothes, which are obviously going to be a problem in the chill air.... So when the man has stepped completely out of the water, the clothes are dry. Problem solved.

"Are you quite all right?"

"So...you weren't expecting to fall into our duck pond?"

On the surface, yes, it's an absurd question. But this is Fandom, and the angel has learned to take nothing for granted.

"Where are you supposed to be, then?"

"Aziraphale, my dear. No 'mister'." He politely holds out his hand, smiling. "And I'd say that not only are you rather a long way from Sparta, but you're also rather a long time from Sparta."

Frowning again at the mention of the temperature, he adds, "You're welcome to come back to the shop, if you like. I have tea there, and a fireplace."

Raising an eyebrow at the stone, Aziraphale nodds and motions toward a building at the edge of the park.

"A pleasure to meet you, Autolycus." He cocks his head. "If that's what brought you here, I expect you'll have to find another way to leave. Things work...a little differently in Fandom sometimes. But I expect you'll find it's a nice enough place."

Leading the way, he turns and walks toward the bookshop.

Unlocking and opening the door, Aziraphale leads his guest inside. The shop is filled with shelves of books, some against the wall and some free-standing, and a few locked cabinets as well. An old-looking armchair sits next to a small table in the corner, and an open doorway leads into a lounge area filled with armchairs, a couch, and of course, more books.

This is where Aziraphale heads, waving his hand toward the fireplace. "Have a seat if you like, and I'll get your tea."

He pours two cups, handing one to Autolycus, and then settles into one of the chairs.

"Is Gabrielle a friend of yours? If she happens to come for a visit, she's welcome to come by. I occasionally sell a book or two, but mostly people just come in to read or chat."

Aziraphale smiles and sips at his tea. "And thank you for the compliment, my dear. I rather like it myself. It isn't usually decorated like this, of course. Holidays, you know."

Chuckling, Aziraphale cocks his head and gives his guest a curious look. "Co-conspirator in what, if I may ask?"

Jenny stopped by the bookshop. The library was closed, and she needed to pick up some supplementary books for her lesson plans on the Jung course.

Aziraphale raises an eyebrow again, smiling over his cup. "Indeed. And is that what you were doing in King Leonidas's treasure? Liberating stolen property to be returned to its rightful owners?"

His tone isn't judgemental as much as it is, well, amused.

"Hey," said Jenny. She really needed to stop in more often and learn all the employees' names. "Any idea where the mythology books are?"

"Perhaps it was only destroyed in your world, but not in this one. I believe you'll see a great deal of that sort of thing around here."

Aziraphale picks up a plate and holds it out toward Autolycus. "Scone?"

Jenny grinned. "I'm not so much a regular, which I'm thinking? Needs to change. It's just that the school's library has a lot in there. But it's closed now, and I need some books."
