The Park, Tuesday Evening.

Anyone passing by the park this evening would see a rather unusual sight.

A man clad in what looked like green velvet, clutching a large, glowing green stone, and suspended by a complicated rigging system, suddenly appeared out of thin air.

Over the duck pond.

The man hung there for several moments before gravity seemed to realise that the rigging was no longer attached to anything and reasserted itself.

Watching from his usual bench in the park, Aziraphale jumps a little at the splash -- not really so much at the sight of a man falling out of thin air, but more out of concern for the ducks that he might have fallen onto.

Oh, well, and concern for a man who just ended up in a duck pond in the middle of winter, of course.

Autolycus's first thought was This is not King Leonidas's treasury. For starters it was colder and wetter. He glanced at the stone in his hand and groaned. I thought it looked familar.

He drew himself up with as much dignity as a man who had just fallen into an unexpected duckpond could, and looked around, catching sight of the blond man sitting on the bench. He splashed towards him. "Hello my good man. I was wondering if you could help me out."

"Of course, my dear." Aziraphale stands and walks toward the pond, offering his hand to help the man out. He frowns at the wet clothes, which are obviously going to be a problem in the chill air.... So when the man has stepped completely out of the water, the clothes are dry. Problem solved.

"Are you quite all right?"

"Thank you." Autolycus smoothed down his surprisingly dry clothing. "Nothing appears to be broken. So apart from the sudden and drastic change in location I'm just peachy."

"So...you weren't expecting to fall into our duck pond?"

On the surface, yes, it's an absurd question. But this is Fandom, and the angel has learned to take nothing for granted.

"Where are you supposed to be, then?"

"No, otherwise I would have brought my warmer clothes. I was in Sparta, conducting a security check on King Leonidas's treasury," It wasn't technically a lie, after all, what better way to test the security of a vault than stealing something from it? "Where are we anyway, Mr...?"

"Aziraphale, my dear. No 'mister'." He politely holds out his hand, smiling. "And I'd say that not only are you rather a long way from Sparta, but you're also rather a long time from Sparta."

Frowning again at the mention of the temperature, he adds, "You're welcome to come back to the shop, if you like. I have tea there, and a fireplace."

"Autolycus," Returning the smile, Autolycus gripped Aziraphale's forearm. "Pleasure to meet you."

Long time, huh? Figured as much. Let's see if I can fix that. Autolycus lifted the Chronos Stone with a flourish and rubbed the top.

Nothing happened. Hmmm.

Tucking the stone into his shirt he grinned at Aziraphale. "You know what? tea and a fireplace sounds just grand."

Raising an eyebrow at the stone, Aziraphale nodds and motions toward a building at the edge of the park.

"A pleasure to meet you, Autolycus." He cocks his head. "If that's what brought you here, I expect you'll have to find another way to leave. Things work...a little differently in Fandom sometimes. But I expect you'll find it's a nice enough place."

Leading the way, he turns and walks toward the bookshop.

Jenny stopped by the bookshop. The library was closed, and she needed to pick up some supplementary books for her lesson plans on the Jung course.

Autolycus raised an eyebrow when he caught sight of the dark-haired woman. "Why? Hello there."

"Hey," said Jenny. She really needed to stop in more often and learn all the employees' names. "Any idea where the mythology books are?"

"None, I'm afraid, since this is the first time I've been here," Autolycus smiled his most charming smile. "Although if you're a regular customer I'll have to make a habit of it."

Jenny grinned. "I'm not so much a regular, which I'm thinking? Needs to change. It's just that the school's library has a lot in there. But it's closed now, and I need some books."

"School? Are all the other students as lovely as you are?" Okay it was cheesy, but Autolycus was sincere about the lovely part.

"Students?" Jenny laughed. "I'm a teacher, actually."

"So when does enrollement open up?" Autolycus winked. "You know what they say, you're never too old to learn."
