The Emporium is open -- Wednesday

Michael opens the shop, and he and Ben are going to take turns going out with Hunter and his fiancee during the day to meet people and tour the town. After meeting the very unusual Lorne, Mara should be ready for just about anything. (Except maybe Red.)

Wilson looked like a man who had been hard at some sort of manual labor. His jeans were covered in what looked like white plaster and drywall, his dark hair was also covered with a light coating of the stuff and his hair was caught against his temples, hopelessly mused.

He had also obviously just yanked a flannel shirt on over the sweat kissed t-shirt he wore beneath it and he'd left his jacket back at the building, being too hot to even think about putting it on. Besides, he didn't expect to be out long.

Pushing his way through the door, he looked around for either Ben or Michael, figuring it would be faster to ask them about sleeping bags then to look around himself.

"Michael? Ben? Either of you here?"

"Hey, Dr. Wilson." Michael looks the clothing up and down and shakes his head with a grin. "Doing some remodeling?"

Wilson looked down at himself and blushed a little, trying to straighten out his hair and only succeeding in making it worse.

"Ah, yeah. Um do you carry sleeping bags?"

"Yeah, over by the bedding. Last aisle on your right." Michael gives a puzzled frown. "Going camping?"

Giving Michael a warm, if slightly tired looking smile, the oncologist headed over in the indicated direction, looking for the little warm bundles.

"Huh? Oh, no...nothing like that." Not a lie but not exactly the truth either.

Coming out from the back room, Ben nods to the doctor. "Dr. Wilson, good to see you." He looks at the doctor's face and is startled to see the man so tired. "Not overworking yourself, are you?"

Having picked out what looked like a warm, durable bag that was neatly packaged in on itself, the oncologist stood up, stifling a wince as he smiled at Ben.

"Good afternoon, Ben. No, nothing like that I promise. Just doing a bit of work at the new Clinic. How are you?"

And then as if he'd gone and forgotten his manners, he looked back and forth between both men.

"I'm sorry, I should have asked, did you two have a good holiday?"

Ben nods at the explanation. "Aha. If you need any help, I'm not too shabby at wielding a hammer."

At the questions he just shrugs. "We're good. Good holiday, but I'm sort of glad it's over. Our son and his fiancee are around town here somewhere, up to no good I'm sure." Ben grins. "How was your holiday?"

He chuckled softly. "Well, I don't know how much renovation I'm looking at, though I imagine I will be placing a few orders for supplies here with you two, once I figure out what it is I need."

It had been a ... a rather long while since he'd had to outfit a home himself. He'd either been married or crashing in House's guest room in between marriages.

Frowning at the thought, Wilson gave his head a shake and he winced slightly at the question.

"Err... you know, it was a couple of days. So, they were able to come down for New Years?" He smiled, focusing the conversation back on Ben's family. "That's wonderful!"

Ben notices Wilson's avoidance of a real answer to his question, but starts off by nodding at the diverting response. "They're going to trek back on the bus next week. I think we've already given Mara a good introduction to the likes of Fandom by introducing her to Lorne at Caritas." Ben bit his lip. He doesn't really know Dr. Wilson all that well yet, but decides to ask the question anyway. "Is everything...all right?"

The idea of Lorne being used as the ambassador for Fandom caused the oncologist to chuckle.

"Well, if you need a 'human' break, let me know. I'd love to say hello."

He was still smiling when Ben asked his question and with a soft sigh, Wilson realized that he wasn't going to be able to pretend this hadn't happened and it would hit the gossip lines soon enough, might as well get the truth out there as damage control to the stories that would be flying later.

"I...I've moved out of the apartment at the school Clinic. I'll be living over the Town Clinic. That's what I'm fixing up at the moment. It was a bit of a ... sudden decision."

Ben is a little taken aback, but as usual, he hides it well. Still, he's not quite sure how to respond. "I suppose these things happen," he says sympathetically. "If there's anything you need, just ask." He smiles, the empathy still reflected in his eyes. "You'll definitely have to meet Hunter and Mara. They're quite a couple."

Wilson simply nodded in response to the comment about the break up but then he smiled to the next.

"I'll be looking forward to it. Now, I have to beg your pardon. I don't have a lot of time to get two windows replaced."

Ben nods. "I won't keep you. But if you end up needing a hand, just let me know."
