Fourth Sin, Friday Night--OPEN
Jarod and M were at the computer. They were playing a rousing game of "Let's pick the kitten up off the keyboard and move her to the desk when she wanders across it, since she doesn't seem to want to learn how to type."
He looked at the picture of his mother, still laying on the desk. Much as he wanted to, he couldn't put it up on a website with the current security, even on his laptop. Someone from the Centre would be sure to be looking for it.
So, he was tightening the Sin's computer security. Again. He may have also glanced at the clock occasionally. But not because Parker was due back that day. Not at all.

He smiled and leaned back in his chair. "How was the rest of your trip?"

"It was... interesting. Angelo says 'hi'. Or, well, he says, 'Cracker Jack', and there's an enormous Magic Eye puzzle he generated for you in my luggage. Sydney's doing okay. We had lunch yesterday." Her voice lowered. "I keep forgetting that he's getting older. But I really wish he would quit. He's looking too tired."
"As for the rest, I have phone numbers for guys in three different countries, and invitations to stay for parts of the summer. So not a complete bust."

"Is Angelo well?" He sighed. He'd been enjoying his freedom, but Angelo and the others deserved their freedom just as much as he did. He'd have to work on that, if he could figure out how to do it without endangering Sydney. "He's been looking that way for a while now, Parker. The Centre creates insomniacs."
"I'm impressed." He smirked, then realized the implications. "You're not staying here for the summer?"

"And I'm hoping Sydney can come visit, sometime this semester. Maybe we can talk him into retiring." She sighed. "Or something."

Once again, he found himself biting his tongue where Parker's father was concerned. Until he had proof, she wouldn't believe him anyway.
"Maybe," Jarod hedged. Sydney wouldn't retire. He had nothing else.

Jarod seemed surprised by the question. "New Year's? Nothing that I know of."

"I heard that Lorne's giving a party at Caritas. I hope I see you there." Parker grins. "If only for the fun of watching your face during the festivities."
no subject
"Festivities? Is this a mistletoe occasion?" M curled up right in the middle of the keyboard and made herself at home. He lifted her off, but she walked casually back over to the keyboard and laid down again. "I guess I could show up."

Or maybe he just likes to hang out with the hot guy.""Not mistletoe. Alcohol. And kissing at midnight." Parker grinned. "I have a standing offer from someone, but I like to watch other people make fools of themselves on this occasion. I don't know if Lorne's going to allow booze in Caritas, but even if he doesn't, I'd bet there will be an after-party somewhere. Unless he has you working?"
no subject
"I'm noticing a trend," he remarked dryly. "Are all the traditions connected to the holidays related to kissing?"
"No, I'm not working."
