Fourth Sin, Friday Night--OPEN

Jarod and M were at the computer. They were playing a rousing game of "Let's pick the kitten up off the keyboard and move her to the desk when she wanders across it, since she doesn't seem to want to learn how to type."

He looked at the picture of his mother, still laying on the desk. Much as he wanted to, he couldn't put it up on a website with the current security, even on his laptop. Someone from the Centre would be sure to be looking for it.

So, he was tightening the Sin's computer security. Again. He may have also glanced at the clock occasionally. But not because Parker was due back that day. Not at all.

*riiiiiiing*

"Hey. I'm back." Parker unpacked a few shoes from her suitcase, and settled Esme back in her hutch. "How's Agent M?"

"Yes!" Parker made a victory sign out the window in th direction of Caritas. "The last part is her own variation, but I have to say I approve. Niiice approach."

"It was... interesting. Angelo says 'hi'. Or, well, he says, 'Cracker Jack', and there's an enormous Magic Eye puzzle he generated for you in my luggage. Sydney's doing okay. We had lunch yesterday." Her voice lowered. "I keep forgetting that he's getting older. But I really wish he would quit. He's looking too tired."

"As for the rest, I have phone numbers for guys in three different countries, and invitations to stay for parts of the summer. So not a complete bust."

"I don't know," Parker said, idly kicking aside a handbag, and pulling out a few more clothes from another. "Daddy was making noises about another summer camp, or maybe Paris. But I didn't want to push. I'm hoping he won't remember it in a few months."

"And I'm hoping Sydney can come visit, sometime this semester. Maybe we can talk him into retiring." She sighed. "Or something."

"Maybe," Parker echoed, no more convinced. "And the last camp he sent me to was an art camp. Although I'm hideously afraid that this time he'll go for some type of Marine camp in order to make me tougher than the Sweepers. I really don't want that. I may take martial arts this semester so he doesn't feel compelled to follow up on that." She sighed. "Listen, what are you doing for New Year's?"

"I'm only at a brown belt level. And I think he wants it to be black belt. And possibly, another variety of martial art on top of that." Parker made a face. "Not that I wouldn't like that, but I don't know who he'd hire to teach me, so...."

"I heard that Lorne's giving a party at Caritas. I hope I see you there." Parker grins. "If only for the fun of watching your face during the festivities."

"I've heard Coach MacLeod is good, but I'd have to cross-examine him a bit. The only thing I know about him is that he's friends with Dr. Pierson, which at least argues for being serious about what he does. Or maybe he just likes to hang out with the hot guy."

"Not mistletoe. Alcohol. And kissing at midnight." Parker grinned. "I have a standing offer from someone, but I like to watch other people make fools of themselves on this occasion. I don't know if Lorne's going to allow booze in Caritas, but even if he doesn't, I'd bet there will be an after-party somewhere. Unless he has you working?"

"Cool, then I expect you to be there." Parker flopped down on her bed. "And... hunh. Now that you mention it... at least the next two have kissing themes as well. Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day do too. I'm beginning to find holidays suspect now."

"Good night, Jarod," Parker sing-songed. "And ask your employers, maybe Becky would know." She grinned.
