Sanctity, after the fight [Part 3/4]
The Tick walked into Sanctity carrying Tex's... O'Malley's... an armored body on his shoulder. Lockheed trailed behind him, proudly carrying a fried duck. "Hello, there!" Tick said. "I have our villain, unconcious as promised!"
Church twitched a little, but it was only shown as the narrowing of Kawalsky's eyes. He was here because Kawalsky, during a brief conversation they had while Kawalsky was still possessed (one that resulted in Kawalsky shouting "DON'T TOUCH THAT!"), told him to be here. Apparently the blue person who ran this place took care of Tex once. Maybe she would do it again. That was what he'd been counting on anyway when he got The Tick to bring her here. "You really are nigh-invulnerable. Do you do freelance work?"
The Tick put Tex's body down as he tried to figure out Church's question. "Freelance? Like mercenary stuff?" he asked. "Egads, no! I'm in it for the Justice, not the money!"
"Then how about coming back to Blood Gulch with me and helping out the blue army by taking down the red army?"
"I appreciate the offer, chum, but I have a vow to Fandom that I have to uphold at least through the school year," Tick explained. "Until then I have to stay here to teach and protect the town."
"Well, if you ever change your mind, Tex knows where to get in contact with me." Church was disappointed. Damn those reds and damn this town for taking away what he wanted. Anyway. "So.. you sure she's knocked out?"
"I can't be positive because of the armor, but she hasn't moved since the fight ended," Tick said. Really, he was hoping that she was just knocked out.
"Good. Okay. I'm going to take her helmet off." Church crouched down carefully beside Tex, ready to react if O'Malley was just playing with them. He released the helmet and tugged at it. It wouldn't budge. He tried more and found himself grunting as he pulled it off bit by bit. He had to take his time to be careful of the neural interface. "This Kawalsky kid may look burly, but he really needs to work out." Eventually, the helmet came loose and Tex's head drooped back. Church pushed the helmet aside. Then there she was. Church leaned in to check if she was breathing. He let out a long breath now that he had lungs to use, and looked up at The Tick. "She's just unconscious."
The Tick looked relieved. Not only did he manage to accomplish his task, but he also didn't hurt Tex too badly. "I'm glad to hear that."
Church was the only one in the room, aside from the unconscious Tex, who knew how to get Tex's armor off. However, in Kawalsky's body he wasn't strong enough to do the job. He had to tell The Tick where to pull and push. Eventually, the armor was sitting in a pile to the side and there was just Tex laying there. She had a small cut on her temple, and she was probably going to hurt like hell when she woke up, but otherwise she was fine. That just left dealing with O'Malley. He had to go, once and for all. "I'm going into her mind to help get rid of O'Malley." Church stood up. "Kawalsky's going to be pretty confused when I leave. In case I don't come back, tell him thanks, and that the pancakes were good."
Church took one final deep breath and burst out of Kawalsky's body. He didn't even turn around before disappearing into Tex.
"I will do, Church," Tick said. "Good luck with whatever it is you're doing, chum!"
Kawalsky shuddered. He looked around. "That was.. something I never wanna do ever again." He looked at The Tick, then at Tex, then around at where he was. Church was gone. Kawalsky shuddered again. "Gah. Ick." He squirmed in a very non-burly fashion. Kawalsky felt at his head. No, his hair was still like normal. But what if Church had done something to his body while in possession of it? He'd never really know. "Gah. Hi Tick."
"Major K!" Tick said. "Welcome back! Are you okay after that whole possession thingy?"
Kawalsky paused to pat himself down, from his face to his.. well, below his belt. He nodded. "I think so. A little grossed out, but yeah, I'm good." He gestured to Tex. "What happened?" He didn't get an answer since they were interrupted.
"Duck army...?" Tex gasped as she slowly woke up. Her head was throbbing and it felt like every part of her body hurt. Church hadn't been kidding. She could hear voices around her, but it was hard to concentrate, all she knew was that she wasn't going to throw up in front of them.
Kawalsky peered down at Tex. "Duck army," Kawalsky confirmed. He would have been glib, but training told him to make sure she was okay first. "Can you hear me, Tex?"
"I'm not deaf," she muttered and forced her eyes open. Kawalsky and that weird blue freak. "Where are we?" She asked and tried to sit up. Whoa, bad idea. The world started spinning and she sagged back to the bed.
"Town," Kawalsky replied. "Somewhere." He looked around. "I've never been in here, so I'm not so sure." He waved a hand at her head. "Is O'Malley gone?"
"Don't you think I'd be rambling about Red Bull and how I was going to kill you if he wasn't?" Tex asked and looked around for a moment as if to make sure no one else was there.
"Well, that and you haven't tried to sit on my lap," Kawalsky replied. "Is Church gone too?"
He didn't come back out and Tick was being way too quiet to be possessed by an asshole who loved the sound of his own voice. "Yeah, he went back to Blood Gulch," she sounded tired as she closed her eyes again. "That's an impressive right hook you've got there, Tick. I feel like I got run over by Sheila."
The Tick, having no clue who or what Sheila was, decided to take this as a compliment. "Thank you, Tex! It's good to have you back!"
"Good to be back," she said softly and nodded at the blue bug. She had questions still, a lot of them, but her body was telling her now wasn't the time as she started to fall right back to sleep.
The Tick turned to Lockheed and Kawalsky. "We should probably let her get some sleep now. Let's be off, chums!"
