Luke's Diner [Sunday]

The diner is open.

There's a small sign in the window that says Help Wanted. It's a plain sign, no glitter or anything like the Welcome New Students sign his wife hung earlier in the week.

Luke is grumbling under his breath about pregnant women.


[ooc: luke may or may not be around to interact. feel free to mod npc servers. he really does need to hire a few people though. also, for the new folks, anyone can open a Luke's post, just don't mod Luke or any of the IC employees. there are npc employees, too!]

Lilly and Allie walk into the diner, Lilly twirling the keys to the golf cart on her finger and Allie looking a little... dismayed, at Lilly's driving.

They grab a seat by one of the diner's walls, and Lilly speaks to Allie as she looks for a specials board.

"I wasn't really trying to pop a wheelie, Al. Even I know that it probably defies the laws of physics."

Allie still looks a little upset, and Lilly smiles a little in an effort to get Allie to forgive her. "I'll buy you a milkshake, and you can drive home, okay?"

Allie reaches over and grabs the keys out of Lilly's hand.

"Deal. But I want onion rings, too."

Lilly looks perhaps strangely pleased by Allie's demands. "You have a deal. But I still assert complete control over the radio."

Which might be a deal-breaker, as Lilly has already had a sub-woofer installed.

"You can control the station, but I control the volume," Allie counters.

"Excellent. Because a trip really isn't the same without a little Luda to set the mood."

Lilly gives Allie a wicked smile, as a waitress comes over and takes their order. It definitely includes two batches of onion rings, and two milkshakes.

"I can't believe classes start tomorrow already," Allie says while they're waiting for their orders.

"I'm looking forward to it, though. Blah blah blah, you don't appreciate something until you have to haunt it for for-practically-ever. And I'm not in any one's shadow here either, there aren't any expectations. The gremlins are a little weird, yeah, but this school has its major benefits.

Plus, I'm taking shop. And cute boys take shop, right?"

"I guess," Allie says as the waitress brings their milkshakes. She smiles in thanks before continuing.

"I was talking to a cute boy that's taking one of my classes," she informs Lilly. "He has a girlfriend though."

"Well, that's never stopped me before. What's his name?"

Allie gives Lilly a look. "Um, Belthazor," she says. "It's kind of weird, but he was really nice."

"That guy is hot. He kind of has a bad-ass vibe though, I didn't know that was your type." Lilly fiddles with a napkin and grins. "I'm impressed."

"It's not. I just said he was cute," Allie protests. She takes a drink of her milkshake.

"Even Logan had a little bit of rebel in him, and I know you wanted to give Doctor House a private exam at the beginning of the semester."

She ignores Allie's blush, and continues. "There's nothing wrong with that, you know. Sometimes that kind of guy has a bigger... heart, than a guy that's supposedly nice."

"And other things," she says with a wink.

"Lilly!" Allie is relieved when the waitress brings their onion rings.

Lilly laughs a little, but lets it go, beginning to munch on her food.

"Have you heard from Logan at all?"

"No," she says, grabbing an onion ring. She shrugs. "He's probably busy getting settled at his new school."

Lilly looks at her reassuringly, "Yeah, he must be busy. It's probably best this way though. I mean, it sucks, but I think it would be worse to have to see him or hear from him, especially with the new semester starting tomorrow. A clean break or whatever, instead of some awkward reunion.

Plus, you're totally hot. We'll find you a new boy in no time."

Allie rolls her eyes. "I'm not interested in finding a new boy right away," she tells Lilly. "I just want to hang out and have fun."

"Oh hell yeah. We're young, beautiful, and have a kick-ass golf cart. Nothing can hold us back."

"Anything else I need to know about this town besides the vampires and witches you told me about?" Weevil asked curiously as they wandered into the diner.

He paused for a moment when he heard what he thought was a familiar voice (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/516839.html?thread=20242919#t20242919). He shook his head. "Damn. I must be out of my mind."

Veronica was about to turn and ask him what he was talking about when she saw Lilly and Allie.

"Oh fuck," she muttered, realizing that she had left out a rather important piece of information when telling Weevil about the town. "Uh, let's go back upstairs and order pizza," she said, trying to push Weevil back up the stairs before he could see Lilly.

Lilly turned in her chair, where she was seated with Allie, when she heard a few other people in the diner.

"Oh, hey, Veronica!" Lilly waved quickly, before her eyes registered who Veronica was standing with.

Her eyes popped open and stared in shock. "Oh my God."

Weevil blinked a few times. It couldn't be. Could it? "V, tell me why I am staring at my dead ex right now?"

"I forgot to tell you she was going to school here, didn't I?" Veronica said, a troubled look on her face.

Lilly stood up from her seat rather slowly, turning to Allie for a moment.

"I need to go talk to Veronica for a second. I'll be right back, okay?" She tried to smile a little, but failed rather miserably, and then turned around without waiting for an answer.

She walked in the direction of the stairs, and immediately locked eyes with Veronica. "Do you want to tell me what's going on?"

She sounded pissed.

"Weevil decided to move to Fandom," Veronica said quietly, still stating the obvious, because she couldn't believe she had been stupid enough to forget about Lilly and Weevil and the fact that they would certainly run into each other if Weevil moved to town.

Weevil continued to stare at Lilly in disbelief. "V, how the hell could you forget to tell me about this?!"

He was beyond pissed.

"It... uh... never came up?" she tried lamely.

"Nice to know my existence so easily slips your mind," Lilly said rather flippantly, but her voice was slightly choked.

"What, first Logan, now Weevil? Maybe you should see if you can get a conjugal visit with Aaron and complete the trifecta."

"God, Lilly, it's not like that," Veronica said.

"First of all, Weevil and I are just friends. Second, I never slept with Logan." Her voice cracked and she felt a tear slipping down her cheek.

"And I didn't forget about you. I just got so used to you being around that I didn't think to mention it to Weevil."

"Nothing is going on between me and V," Weevil said to Lilly. Talking to his dead ex. That was going to take some getting used to.

He looked at Veronica. Damn her tears. How could he be mad at her now?

Lilly's gaze jumped between Weevil and Veronica, her eyes also starting to become glassy even as she fought to keep her expression neutral.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions like that." she said rather weakly. "I just..."

She trailed off for a moment, and then looked at Weevil as if he still might not be real. "So," she said with a teary chuckle. "How have you been?"

"I've been better," Weevil answered. "I mean... not that I'm not happy to see you Lilly, but... how...?"

Weevil started to suspect everything about this town was completely insane.

"The afterlife isn't exactly as advertised?" she said a little too quickly, the joke losing something in delivery. "And there weren't many places where I could go, not being the infamous, dead pep squad girl from California, that the movie star killed. I'm not exactly low-profile.

I wanted to call, but I couldn't, for obvious reasons."

Lilly exhaled audibly, and tried to look composed.

"So, what are you? A ghost?" Weevil couldn't believe he was even asking this question.

"I prefer phantom, it's way sexier."

Finally, Weevil found a reason to smile. "You do look good. Death hasn't changed that."

"You look good too."

Lilly gave Weevil a soft, familiar smile, but then turned to Veronica, her face falling a little bit.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have... I wigged out a little. Are we okay?"

Veronica nodded. "It's... my fault. I just wasn't thinking. I'm sorry."

She looked from Lilly to Weevil. "To both of you."

Weevil smiled at Veronica. "I guess I can forgive you."

"Anything else you forgot to tell me?"

"I told you Logan's here. And Mac just enrolled last week."

She stopped talking and bit her lip.

"I kind of forgot to tell Logan you were moving here."

Lilly tilted her head, "Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to your reunion?"
