New in Town

Once Weevil arrived in Fandom, he immediately wondered what the hell he got himself into. Veronica wasn't kidding when she said it was a small town. Definitely not the sort of place he was used to.

But he decided it was time to settle in. After giving Luke a deposit for the apartment, he called Veronica to let her know he was there. He glanced at the surprise he had for her.

"I think V will like this surprise, don't you?" Weevil said to Backup. The dog barked back in response. It was as if Backup knew he would soon be reunited with his owner.

Weevil smiled. He couldn't wait to see Veronica's reaction.

After leaving the senior class meeting, Veronica headed immediately to the diner. Following Weevil's instructions, she went in the back door of the diner and up the steps to the apartment. She was confused that she hadn't seen his bike outside.

She knocked on his door, grinning.

Weevil knew it was Veronica at the door. He opened it and grinned at her. "Hey, V. Miss me?"

"Nope, not at all," she said, giving him a hug. "Where's your bike?"

"Bike's not here. Your surprise wouldn't fit," Weevil said, indicating Backup. He waited for Veronica's reaction.

Backup bounded across the room.

Veronica crouched down and rubbed his head. "Hey, boy!"

She looked up at Weevil and her grin grew wider. "I can't believe you brought him with you!"

"I know you didn't like leaving him last time. Besides, I he missed you."

Veronica happily played with her dog as she answered.

"I'm surprised my dad let you bring him," she admitted. "But I'm glad you're both here. Now, you have to be starving. You want to go downstairs and get something to eat?"

"Your dad told me to bring him. He's still worried, you know," Weevil explained.

"Sounds like a plan."

Veronica patted Backup one last time and then stood up to lead Weevil to the diner (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomtownies/516839.html).

"I swear, my dad will still be worrying about me when I'm fifty," she said as they descended the steps.
