NPC Chinese Restaurant

After leaving Callisto's room, Angel and Callisto enjoyed a quiet walk through town as they went to the restaurant.

Well... possibly Callisto enjoyed the quiet. Angel did his best to remember the various conversational topics that were okay to bring up over dinner and hoped he wasn't doing anything stupid with his hands.

The restaurant greeted them with a rush of light and heat as the door opened. They went inside to get a table.

"This okay?" Angel asked, as a waiter led them to a booth.

[Because for SOME STRANGE REASON I suspect Chinese food is going to be popular tonight]

[*hands out popcorn*]

[*settles in, waves flag and hopes that Angel doesn't SCREW EVERYTHING UP]

[In hindsight he probably shouldn't have taken her somewhere that's filled with wooden objects that are the perfect size for jabbing]

[*waves flags for Angel and Callisto* Go go go! You can do it!]

"Yeah, it's fine," Callisto sat down, and did not start drumming her fingers nervously. "This is, uh, a nice looking place."

[[Woot! *waves flag and grabs some popcorn*]]

[*DEAD OF GIGGLE* OMG DEATH BY CHOPSTICK! Tell me PLZ TELL ME that this has been used in some vampire-y tv/movie situation]

"Never been," Angel admitted. He looked at the menu which was half English, half Cantonese. "Oh, hey, I know this."

"The menu?" Callisto glanced at her own.

"A little, yeah." Angel looked pleased, as though he'd passed the first test. Then, as though this would make sense to anybody, "Could've brought that #2 pencil."

*sips Mr. Pibbs through a redvine and muches some popcorn.

Callisto decided Angel was making some kind of joke. "I know you don't like talking, but don't you think that's taking it a bit far?"

At some point remind me to tell you about staking vampires with chopsticks and "katana".

"What?" Angel blinked. "Oh. No. I meant - thing that happened at the candy place. Thought I had to take an exam to come in. Not that I knew what I was supposed to buy anyway."

Angel looked worried. "Did I? Buy the right thing? I told her what I wanted and she seemed real helpful..."

"No, they were fine," Callisto said reassuringly. "And anyway it's the thought that counts."

"The hearts weren't - you know - pushing it?" Angel might've been holding his menu very, very tightly. But not from nerves. Oh no. "Wasn't sure if maybe that was saying something."

"Was, it wasn't as if they were still beating or anything," Callisto smiled weakly at her joke. "So they didn't say anthing. Unless you meant them too. Then they said that. Whatever it was."

Angel gave a small smile. "How about... looking forward to tonight? Or, uh, now, I guess. Looking forward to now."

"That works," Callisto smiled back. "So, uh, how was your day?"

"Better once I saw you convince Anakin to run for office," Angel grinned. "Think I stand a chance of getting out of that?"

"Not if I have anything to say about it," Callisto might have been joking. Might. "You try to convince Xander and get turned down or something? You didn't exactly look happy after talking to him."

"What? Oh." Angel got quiet. He folded his menu closed and put it on the table. "That - uh. He heard about me... trying to do the date thing. Wasn't exactly happy about it."
