Michael opens the store and starts doing inventory. The sign is still in the window:

((ooc: work is stop-and-go today, so responses might be slow. I've tried to be ~~anal-retentive~~ thorough with what was in the store for the directory, but if I've missed something, comment to the Emporium directory post and I will add the missing stuff.))

Miho enters the store and starts looking for balloons. For water.

"Hello. Can I help you find something?"

Miho shakes her head and continues her search for balloons. This might be a bit difficult, however, as she's somehow found her way onto the cookie aisle.

Michael shrugs and lets her shop. He'll be there when she's ready to check out ~~with a cracktastic amount of cookies~~.

Miho comes up to the register with a package of Double-Stuffed Oreos, a package of Chips Ahoy!, and two packages of water balloons.

Michael smiles. "I see you have good taste." He doesn't ask about the water balloons. Not that he isn't curious, but he figures it's just safer that way. "That's $7.42."

Miho hands him two five dollar bills and waits for her change.

Michael quickly makes the change, and hands it over along with the bag containing the cookies and water balloons. "Have a nice day."

Victor finally finished putting up his campaign posters, so he decided to walk around town for a bit. He paused at the Emporium when he saw the sign.

"Cricket bats?" he said to himself. "Don't they play that in Europe? Maybe Walter can teach me how to play..."

He went inside, waving at Michael as he entered. He grabbed two cricket bats and brought them up to the counter. "Hey, dude. I saw your mom last night."

"You went to dinner at Deb's, I take it." He shook his head as he rang up the bats. "She didn't tell you some horribly embarrassing thing about me, did she?" In spite of the sound of the words, he was grinning. Michael was used to his mother being like that. "That's $25 even."

((ooc: sorry for delay -- work is priority.))

"Nah, not really," he replied, handing Michael the money. "She said you have a husband, though. How..how long have you two been together?"

[ooc: Not a prob at all. I'm at school, myself.]

Michael takes the money and hands back the receipt. "We've been together almost ten years now." Michael flashes the ring on his left hand, and mentally makes a note for to look for an anniversary present. "We even made it 'official,' so to speak, on a trip to Canada. Our adopted son -- he's an adult now -- runs my old comic book store back in Pittsburgh."

"That's really cool," Victor said, genuinely impressed. "I hope I can find a guy who'd want to stay with me that long. Heck, I just hope I can find a guy..."

"Just don't rush things. You're young yet. Ben and I didn't meet until we were in our 30's." Michael cringed inwardly as he realized he was giving away his age. It pleased him to see kids accepting their sexual orientation so young these days, though. It was very different for most kids when he was that age; he was thankful his mother had been so supportive. "Fandom is the most gay-friendly place I have ever been, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if you found a boyfriend here."

Victor smiled. "Thanks for the advice, Michael. I gotta go to lunch now, though, so I'll see you later?"

Michael nods with a smile. "See you around."

Pippi enters the emporium giving a smile to Michael as she heads for the clothing section.

She wanders around looking characteristically confused and lost for about a half an hour.

"Anything specific you're looking for that I can help you find?"

Pippi is in her usual mis-matched get up wandering around the women's clothing section like it's an alien landscape. She looks up at Michael.

"There's a dance tonight." she says simply.

"So, a dress, maybe? Or a skirt?" Yeah, he was being stereotypical. But when women chose to dress up, most of the time they didn't go for pants. "A skirt might be easier, you can match it up with a shirt you've already got."

Pippi looked down at the shirt she was wearing. "I have my blue captain's coat I thought I would wear. It's light blue. Like this."

She points out a light blue patch that's sewn onto the elbow of her orange shirt sleeve.

"Do you have a skirt that would go with that?"

Michael eyes the patch and looks through the skirts. Carson Kressley he's not, but he should be able to find something appropriate. He pulls out a dark blue denim skirt, which would probably be above knee length for Pippi, and a pleated hot pink skirt of about the same length. "Maybe one of these?"

((~~And mun has about as much fashion sense as Michael does.~~))

Pippi really liked the color of the pleated skirt, but the denim one looked more durable. Under normal conditions, she'd just take them both, but she did need to conserve money. She didn't bring as big a bag of coins with her to school as she normally had.

"I think the blue one will be okay?" she asks.

Michael nods. "You've got enough credit left to cover this, if that's how you'd like to pay for it."

Pippi nods. The more she looks at the skirt, the more she likes it. She usually made her own clothes.

Pippi decides that it's the best. skirt. ever.

She feels so relieved to have something proper to wear to the dance. Mrs. Settergren had given her an earful before she left about that one time she came to a coffee party (http://static.flickr.com/42/85879097_366ea7476c_m.jpg). She's so happy in fact that she gives Michael a big hug that lifts him off his feet.

"Thank you so much!"

Michael is startled. Not that he's a big guy -- Ben could easily lift him off his feet, and occasionally did just for the hell of it -- but Pippi isn't big or male, which are the usual requirements for being able to lift him. Then again, this is Fandom, and nothing should surprise him anymore, although things often still do. "You're welcome," he says, waiting patiently for her to let him down.

It takes a moment for her to do so, she's very grateful.

Having finished properly thanking Michael for his help, Pippi noticed the time and had to be off for lunch period.

She bid Michael good day and rushed back to school.

Han wandered in, looking like he had no idea what to do with himself. But at least he was a boy again, which is more than he could say for the last time he was here.

"Hey, Han. How's it going?"

"Not too bad, Michael. I just need a few things." He heads into the store to shop.

Michael nods. He'd make a joke about girl clothes, but he's not sure how well the kid would take it.

Han shops a bit and checks out with a batch of things, some groceries, a box of raisins, ~~Secret Sibling Gifts~~.

"How's it going with you two? Ben said I could come over and see him if I needed to talk. Is that okay with you?"

Michael rings up the items and gives Han the total. "It's going all right." He shrugs. "It's okay by me. If you need advice, he's a pretty good person to turn to."

"He gave me some good advice when I was stuck as a girl and again when Bagoas was leaving." Han pays. "He's a good man. You're really lucky, you know?"

Michael nods. "I know." He sets the bags on the counter. "He's a very special man."

Han looks amazingly sad for an instant then picks up the bags. "You take good care of him. I need to get a couple things done before class. Thanks again."

He heads out the door.

John stops in after browsing the town for a bit and sees the sign in the window.

[Do you sell lumber here? or is that another Fandom (npc) store?

"Can I help you find something?"

((ooc: Sorry, no. Would have to be NPC store.))

"I'll take 4 cricket bats. ANd... um... have you heard anyone talking anything about lofts? Loft beds? I'm wondering how popular they'd be."

Michael rings up the cricket bats. "That's $45." At the question he shrugs. "I haven't heard anyone talk about them, but I'd think that with the limited space in a dorm, people might be interested in them. If the administration allows construction in the dorms, that is."

"I was figuring on the Shop class. Better tools there, make 'em more accuate. Template 'n all."

John hands over the cash.

"You'd still have to install them in the dorms, I would think the administration would want to be notified if that was going to happen. Not that that would stop the students around here from doing it anyway."

"It's not that big a deal. If ya build it right, check all the holes, all you'd see is a pile of lumber and all you'd hear is the sound of wrenches on the bolts. Gotta have something to do."

Michael nods. "Guess there are worse ways to keep your hands busy. If there's a demand for them, you could make some money on it too."

"Oh, I plan to. Everything here's so expensive. I mean, it's not, but it adds up."
