Aziraphale's Rare Books, Sunday mid-day

Kiki opens the bookstore, setting out tea and scones, and then curls up on the couch with a copy of Lysistrata and Jiji draped over her feet in such a manner that it looks impossible to be comfortable - and yet, he's sleeping peacefully, his face turned towards the warmth of the cheerful fire.

Tea & biscuits!

Inara relaxes into a couch with a sigh and picks up the book she's been reading for a while on the Ancient Greek empire.

Kiki looks over with a smile and a wave, and, seeing that Inara seems all set, doesn't disturb her further.

Inara glances up with a smile at Kiki. "How are you today, Kiki?"

"Good," she answers, "working on some homework. How about you?"

"Reading up on the Greek Empire." She indicates her book then hesitates. "Kiki, I'm not very well acquainted with many of the students, but I was wondering...who do you usually talk to? Do you have friends in your classes or..." Inara shrugs, trying to find the words.

Kiki looks thoughtful. "Well," she says slowly, "I don't really know many of the other students - Paige and John," she lists, "Marty or Han, or Belthazor sometimes, or maybe if I run into people in the common rooms. Harry, but..." she trails off, looking a little sad. "Generally, I talk to Mr. Aziraphale and Mr. Crowley; I'd say they are my best friends."

Inara nodded. "Do you think there are other students in the same position?"

Thinking it over a moment before answering, Kiki says, "I think there probably are. There are probably plenty who are pretty shy, especially among the new students. Why do you ask?"

She hesitates over telling the young woman. "I've been thinking about...well, hosting occasions for students and townies to get together. Small parties intended for people to interact a little. Start with a few students who seem willing to talk to people and a few townies the same and work from there."

"I think that sounds like a fine idea," Kiki offers. "Sometimes I think some of the students and the townsfolk can be a little out of touch with each other, but really, the town wouldn't exist without the school and the school couldn't exist without the town. And something like a party would be pretty relaxing for everyone, I think."

"Well, they'd be small gatherings," she said, "and varying people from gathering to gathering. Mr. Phale mentioned the possibility of starting a book club for townsfolk and students - but not everyone likes reading."

"A book club would be perfect for me," Kiki grins, "Bur yes, there are a few who don't even know where this place is."

Kiki rests her chin on her hand, thinking. "Maybe Deb would be willing to have a similar club for people interested in baking? Or a yoga group...or community service? When spring comes, I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing, say, a baseball game between the students and the townsfolk - that could really be fun!"

Inara arches a brow. "Baseball?"

"Er, it's a game," Kiki explains, "played outdoors on a field with two teams. It involves hitting a ball with a bat in order to score points."

"Well, mostly my idea was just to invite people around and get them talking to people they wouldn't usually talk to." Inara smiles a little. "About baseball, baking, or yoga if they like. Just a chance to extend their social group if they're willing."

"It sounds great," Kiki replies enthusiastically. "I think you'll be able to get quite a few people interested in this. Probably if you talk to some of the business owners, some of them will be willing to use their places for meetings. The Perk would be a good place," she suggests.

"The Perk is always a good place," Inara agrees. "Thanks for the suggestion."

"You're welcome," Kiki smiles, picking her book back up again.

If you can actually find the book you want, you might even be able to buy it.
