The Emporium is open -- Sunday

Michael flipped the sign from "closed" to "open" and began adjusting the Valentine's Day displays. Considering this town, he'd made sure there were enough cards that were appropriate for people to give to someone of the same gender. It was a day Michael needed to give more thought to on a personal level as well. The holiday was when he and Ben marked their anniversary, and they were hitting the ten-year mark. What to get his husband was a problem he'd have to solve.

Inara comes in, not to buy anything, just to chat. "Good morning, Michael. How's business?"

"Very well. Chiana contacted me about the safe walks program she's starting. The radio said several people signed up for it."

"It is getting more dangerous - or so it seems. Do you think the safe walks program really will help, or just make people feel better?"

"That sounds like a philosophical question," Inara says, smiling a little. "Although the perception of danger seems to be what's prompting Chiana's initiative."

Walter wanders in with a backpack slung over his shoulder. "Good morning."

He begins to load a basket with a wide array of baking essentials before stopping in front of the Valentine's display looking a bit befuddled.

*DEATH can be seen from the shop windows standing out on the sidewalk outside the Emporium, apparently waiting for someone. He is wearing a pair of black slacks, a black t-shirt, and a black sport jacket, all of which contrasts sharply with what appear to be white converse all-stars, making him look like a very thin, somewhat skeletal stereotypical poet. The only thing missing appears to be a beret.

Binky is standing nearby, wearing what appears to be a black tie.*

Macbeth walks up to the Emporium, clad in his usual - Red shirt, black pants, brown boots, and a flannel shirt wrapped around his waist that could only wish it was a proud and mighty kilt.
He immediately approached DEATH and Binky, nodding a bit of a hello toward each.
"Good day to ye both, DEATH, Binky. Ready to finish that wardrobe o yours?"

*DEATH greets MacBeth with a flourish and very RennFaire-esque bow which he recently heard described on the internet.*

"Aye, onward!" Macbeth agreed, opening the Emporium door and holding it for his shopping companions. He looked inside, taking mental notes on everything he saw.
And what was up with all of those hearts? That pink and red?
He would be certain to ask later.

*DEATH is immediately capitvated by the surplus of hearts, especially the glittery ones. He stops to examine them carefully.*

Flashy... that was a word Macbeth wasn't familiar with. He made a mental note to add that one to his vocabulary.
"I have no idea, frein DEATH." He walked up to one of the displays and examined it closely. It seemed very... shiny.
Nono, it was flashy.
"I dunnae suppose anybody else here would know?"

*DEATH glances about, trying to see if there is anyone else in the vicinity.*

Macbeth looked about as well, hoping that someone was there who could explain the odd red-and-pink phenominon to him.
In the meantime, he decided to keep up the conversation.
"There is a certain sort of charm to it, isn't there? If nothin' else, the colours go nicely with one another."

Walter is standing at the display, feeling an equal degree of confusion, although Valentine's Day is celebrated somewhat in his time and place.

He looks up at Death and Macbeth and gives them a wave before returning to looking through the cards. "To my sweetie, on this sweetest day..." No, that didn't seem at all right.

Finally finished, and with a remarkable amount of food to carry back up to the dorms, Walter brought his cart up to the register.

He unloaded all of the ingredients needed to make enough pies to feed the school it seemed, and pulled out his wallet.

"You look as though your illness has passed, I'm happy to see."

Walter pulled several mesh shopping bags out of his backpack and began loading as much of the groceries as he could into the bags and backpack.

After paying Michael, he looked at the piles of bags and shook his head. "No. I think I'm going to have to make two trips. I'll hurry. It won't take me long." He said the last with a slight smirk, but was already planning just how much more he was going to have to eat to cover the calorie cost.

[ooc: he'll be back a whole lot more quickly than Michael's going to expect, just a bit winded.]

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-16 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Walter reappeared shortly, grabbed the remaining bags and gave Michael a friendly smile before disappearing out the door.

Walter walked back in for a second trip to The Emporium that day. This time he moved purposefully through the aisles and appeared at the cash register with his arms full of the store's entire stock of duct tape.

"This is it for today, Michael, I promise."
