Lana decided the benefits of having a hot delicious supper that she would actually *eat* outweighed the negatives of walking into town when she was exhausted and sore from yesterday's detention.

She felt a little funny knowing Michael and Hunter considered her one of Deb's kids without knowing how Deb felt about that, but once she was in the warmth of the diner and smelling all the wonderful food, it all went straight out of her mind.

"Hi, Lana. How you doing tonight, sweetie?" Deb sets the silverware and water in front of her.

"Better now that I'm here," Lana said with a smile. "You have an incredibly welcoming place here."

She looked at the menu list for a minute. "I think I'll have the chicken. And I probably shouldn't, but save me a piece of that chocolate lava cake, okay?"

Deb laughs. "You're only young once, honey. Eat dessert first!" She heads to the kitchen to pick up the order.

"How's school going for you?" she asks as she delivers dinner.

Lana winces. "Classes are going well, but I'm kind of not staying in my room because of some issues. And I got detention the first week of school. It's been an... *intersting* week."

"It sounds like it. Detention, hunh? Michael picked up a few, only a few, through his schooling. He eventually learned not to call teachers 'homophobic pricks' until after he was out of their classes."

Deb gives her another smile. "You just take as much time as you need. It's a quiet night and sometimes you just need a quiet place to relax."

Lana grinned at the thought of Michael mouthing off to his teachers. "He's a really great guy. I'm glad I met him - all of you."

"And thanks. I could really use some quiet time away from the school to just kind of get my thoughts together. Normally I'd go sit out on the rocks by the ocean, but it's a little too cold for me at the moment."

"It's warm in here." Deb pats her hand and goes to refill an nPCs coffee cup, leaving Lana to her thoughts.

Lana watches her go with a bit of a wistful smile on her face, then turns to her food and her book.
