Tuesday, Wolfram and Hart
Lilah was bored as she stared at the walls of her office, and not at all disappointed that the strange guy had never called back about the lollipops. Really. Bored, bored, bored. What could she do to stir up some activity?
She sighed and leaned back in her chair, feet propped on the desk as she brainstormed. Hmmm...activating a sentient AI in Tex's armor? Did that. Hiring two evil vampires? Did that.
This town needed more evil plots.
An idea occurred to her and her feet hit the ground with a thud.
When in doubt, network. See what everyone else is doing.
That was the ticket to chaos and evil--and it always seemed to go better when begun over wine, blood, and food.
She began to make lists.

One of the shops in town stood out head and shoulders over the rest. When Jenny had taken a look at the town directory, she'd discovered that Wolfram & Hart had a branch here. "Like I haven't heard enough bad things about them," she'd muttered at the phone book.
It was time to pay whoever that laywer was a visit and see what she could find out. Of course, lawyers? Not so much with the being incriminating.

"Yes?"

OOC: I gave a general description of Lilah based on the show. Please let me know if that's not okay. Heh.

Of course, she didn't mention that she'd gotten this gig because Hell had been fully staffed with lawyers when she showed up.

She ignored the lawyer's narrowed eyes and studied the degrees. "So you sell your soul while you were in law school, or did that wait 'til you signed on with Wolfram & Hart?"
no subject
"The summer I was studying for the bar exam, actually. Um, did you have a purpose here, or are you just sightseeing? Not that it's not a lovely office," she gestured to the windowless room, "but you look like someone who'd prefer trees."
no subject
"Do I?" Jenny shrugged. "I was doing some work the other day. Found an interesting e-mail. You know how that goes?"

Jenny turned and studied Lilah. "Figured that. Lawyers, y'know? So I was doing the poking around because someone I know? Kinda got into a lot of trouble a couple of weeks ago. Your firewalls, by the way? Totally killer, and I don't mean that metaphorically."
no subject
Lilah's jaw tightened at the mention of her firewalls. Well, crap. Get what you pay for, I guess. "Oh?"
no subject
"Got a spellcaster on retainer, do you?" asked Jenny. "Nice. Not many law firms can handle that kind of expense."
no subject
No matter how much the windows might solve her current employment problem. Darn it.
Double crap on toast. She shrugged. "We're a multi-dimensional organization. It's actually more cost-effective to have one around that can handle the job than have to look for a new one every time. Plus, we find we get better results."
no subject
"Yeah, plus once you find one whose morals are all nice and bendy, you kinda want to keep him around, don't you?" Jenny shook her head. "Possession spells don't come cheap, though. And it's not like they're totally untraceable either. So why'd you do it, anyway?"
no subject
Shit. Who the hell was this woman? "I don't believe I need to answer to someone whose name I don't know." She considered, playing idly with the edge of her scarf. "Or, no, wait, I don't believe I need to answer to you at all. That's right."
no subject
"You've got a point," said Jenny. She smiled wryly at Lilah. She wondered what was up with the scarf. Did it have something to do with the funky vibes? "I was mostly curious if you had a reason. But then again, hey, evil law firm? Kinda doesn't need an actual reason, right?"
Plus now that she'd gotten the name of the lawyer? Background check. That could turn up all kinds of interesting stuff.

"Enough with the wreaking of chaos and havoc and all that, 'kay? There. Warning delivered. Wanna get your scoffing outta the way now, or wait 'til I'm gone and do it behind my back?"
no subject
She smiled at the woman, not at all pleasantly. "Thanks for setting me back and the straight and narrow. I'll be sure to thank you in my acceptance speech when I receive the Humanitarian of the Year award. You'll cry, there'll be a thing. It'll be really touching, you'll see."
no subject
Jenny grinned, amused at Lilah's expression. "Oh, hey, any time. And you know, of course it'll be touching. A front for your true evil plans, but touching nevertheless." She laughed. "I've seen the movie a few times."
no subject
"I? Have no evil plans. I just play the hand I'm dealt."

And then she was walking down the street. Mission one? Accomplished.

After the woman left, she made a beeline for her desk and called Records. Unfortunately, the drone there seemed to be out to lunch, so she left a message.

Darla came in (late), sat down at her (empty) desk and looked at Lilah making lists. "How doth the little busy bee... whatever the rest of it is."
There might be a lingering scent of coffee liquer in her hair, but otherwise Darla seems to be in a good mood.
