Thursday, Wolfram and Hart

Lilah arrived at the office early and immediately began researching with the little information she had about the witch who had dropped by two days before.

If there was a player who could break magic-enhanced encryptions, she needed to know about her, pronto. Unfortunately, "brown-eyed brunette" covered millions of people, including herself.

This was gonna take a while.

It's much like the last time Lilah had a visit. Only this time there is no spooking her. The door slams open and right back shut. There's a click as someone turns the lock and then the chair in front of Lilah's desk is sent flying across to room. It shatters into pieces against the wall.

"Were you expecting me?" Tex hit the camouflage and appeared before Lilah. If armours would have expressions, she wouldn't look too pleased.

Tex reached behind her, pulling a hilt from somewhere out of her armour. She made one sweep with her arm, and a two spiked energy blade (http://www.the-junkyard.net/images/weapons/halo2/w_energysword.jpg) actived itself. "I have a lot of unique capabilities, with or without my armour. I'm also very eager to demonstrate them to you."

"As you should be," Tex snarled and jumped forward. She struck the desk with her sword, the blade easily slicing through it. "I don't like people messing with me and something tells me you haven't been playing ball."

"Oh, I know your type." Tex kicked the desk out of the way and moved closer to Lilah. It's easy to corner a prey when they go jump up against the wall by themselves.

"I get paid by people like you to do their dirty work. Wipe out a base here, shoot an obnoxious enemy there, torture the dumb bitch who doesn't know when she's playing with something she can't control... It's always fun to watch them squirm and bag," she sounded pretty cheerful about it.

Tex didn't give Lilah a chance to finish that sentence. Without warning, she struck out at the woman's jaw.

"Oh, I'm very reasonable," she agreed.

Tex stood back, letting Lilah actually get a few paces towards the door before grabbing hold of her arm and pushing her back towards the wall.

"Leaving so soon? I've just begun. Unless there's something you'd like to share?"

Which really didn't make much sense. It was so easy to forget how fragile people out of armour were.

"Right, why don't you put it in black and white?" She grabbed Lilah's shoulder and pushed her towards the remains of her desk.

"See? If you just try you can become a great athlete," Tex smirked and thumped Lilah on the back. It was supposedly a friendly gesture, but the force she put behind it might not feel that way.

"So you paid someone to put a spell on me which activated O'Malley? Why? Did Wyoming put you up to this?"

"Who's that?" Tex had never heard of them, but it reassured her at least that the attack hadn't come from her own time.

Tex squatted next to Lilah. She leaned close enough to study the woman's face.

"So tell me, what's going to keep me from killing you and slowly working my way up the chain of command?" She asked as she brought the sword dangerously close to the back of Lilah's neck.

Tex tilted her head and mulled over it.

"That's going to be one fucking large bill," she commented, almost sounding bored. With a lazy flick of her wrist she made a slight haircut adjustment. "Keep writing."

"I like money," Tex said pleasently and picked the pen from Lilah's fingers. She wrote down a figure on the paper. "Lots of it," she dropped the pen again.

"Weapons are nice, but I'm an arms dealer. I doubt there's much you can surprise me with. Maybe something else? I was just thinking that walking can be such a bitch sometimes. How about a bike? You know, one that's sturdy enough to carry someone in armour. Black. I like black."

She considered it some more. "And there was a toy I'm looking for. They don't seem to have it here. You know, I like target practice, but it's such a bitch having these unmoving targets in my shop. A woman of your resources should be able to come up with some sort of alternative. What do you think?"

"Nice doing business with you," Tex grinned and de-activated the energy sword. If Lilah thought that was the end of it, she was mistaken though. Without warning, Tex grabbed hold of Lilah's shorter hair and pulled her up by it.

"Just keep in mind," she said as she leaned really close, faceplate nearly touching, "you're my bitch now. Mess with me ever again and I won't be as nice about it."

"Good girl," Tex pushed her right back down and snatched up the piece of paper with the confession and the adress. "I hope this was as pleasant for you as it was for me."

She took a step back and hit her active camouflage again, disappearing right into thin air. Deciding that unlocking the door was a waist of time, she just knocked it open effortlessly and left Lilah to fend for herself.
