Sunday Morning, Fourth Sin

After a quick trip to the NPC Grocery Store and Jeff, God of Biscuits Bakery, Jarod set about making a large brunch for inhabitants of the Sin. Challah bread french toast, bacon, orange juice, fresh strawberries, blueberry muffins, coffee, and water for tea were the menu, but he wouldn't put the french toast or bacon on the stove until someone came downstairs.

Most of the girls tended to be late sleepers, after all.

Marty walked into the Sin carrying a box under his arm. "Hey Jarod. How was your weekend?"

Jarod looked up from the newspaper he was reading. "Pretty good, Marty. And you? Looks like things were successful on your end. Want breakfast?"

Marty put the box on the counter and pushed it Jarod. "Sounds good to me. What have you got going there?"

Jarod peered into the box. The bunny looked up at him and twitched her nose, but seemed happy enough. He closed the box so she couldn't escape and "French toast, bacon, fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. I could probably manage some eggs or something, if you wanted."

"Nah... this is fine," Marty said grabbing a plate of French toast and some coffee. "I appreciate your help in this little caper."

"Hey, anything I can do to annoy Parker is a good thing. It's been too long and I'm falling out of practice."

After taking a walk around the school to ensure everything was in it's proper place, Fraser heads into town.

The Fourth Sin is the obvious stop considering everything that occurred yesterday. So, he pushes open the door and steps just inside, letting the door close behind.

"Good afternoon."

Jarod waved a spatula at the newcomer that he remembered vaguely from the other night. "Afternoon. Want brunch?"

"Thank you for the offer," Fraser says, coming over to the counter. "I had breakfast this morning so I think I'll pass. How is everything today?"

"Things are going very well, actually," Jarod said, putting the spatula down on the towel and offering his hand. "I'm Jarod. Are you new in town?"

"I am," Fraser replies, shaking Jarod's hand. "Benton Fraser, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and new head of security for the high school. I just arrived in town last Friday."

"Royal Canadian Mounted..." Jarod paused, resolved to watch his step, just in case. "Well, that's very interesting. What are you doing here?"

Miho, looking very angry, comes downstairs.

Placate her with food?

Jarod raised an eyebrow, and loaded up a plate, setting it in front of Miho. "//Juice, coffee, or tea?//"

French toast. Jarod may live. "//Tea. If Becky asks, I've gone to the mainland to kill it all better.//"

He poured some hot water into a teapot with loose tea and set it in front of Miho to steep. He raised an eyebrow as her words registered. "//Do I want to know?//"

He also placed a container of real maple syrup in front of Miho.

"//There was a bastard. Last night.//" Her eyes narrow at the teapot. "//I can read body language quite well, you know.//"

Jarod looked at the teapot, trying to figure out what it had done to offend Miho. "//Yes, I had gotten that impression.//"

He hoped the "bastard" was still alive, but didn't ask, since he didn't really want to hear the answer if he wasn't.

"//Some people really cannot take a joke.//" Miho uses the maple syrup to drown the hell out of her French toast. And bacon. And eggs.

Now it's breakfast.

Inara drops into a chair. "Good morning, Jarod." She eyes the feast. "Looks good."

"Good morning, Inara." Jarod smiled and tried to hide the box with Esme in it. Somehow, he didn't think she would approve. "Thank you. Help yourself."

Inara helped herself, but also couldn't help noticing the box that Jarod was moving to another location. "Should I ask?" She said without looking around. "Or is it one of those 'better left unsaid' things?"

He flashed a sheepish grin at her. "Someone's playing a joke on a friend. This is her bunny, and I'm keeping Esme safe for her."

"Ahh. Esme's an unusual name for a bunny." She sat down with plate of food and picked up a fork with a wry wince. "Then again, my thoughts on naming rabbits generally tend towards 'fluffy' or 'cottontail'."

And sometimes 'lunch'. But she's not going to say that out loud with a pet in the room.
