The Perk, early Sunday

Seventeen? SO not going to Mass. She bounces into the Perk and gets the biggest, most coffee laden thing full of syrup and chocolate and half and half, and a muffin, and a turnover, and three biscotti...and she looks around with bright eyes and a wide smile.

[[specifically for Veronica, but anyone who wants to meet "Claudia" come on in! OR, as always, use this Perk for your own patronage.]]

ETA: [sorry for the late posting of an early thread, my RL router crashed and I just got back on]

ETA2: Quark's here too! He's talking to people for FREE!!! [[sorry Q, couldn't resist]]

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica walks in to the Perk, tired and sore from sleeping on Weevil's couch. She orders herself a chai latte and picks up two muffins, with the intention of taking one back to Weevil for when he wakes up.

She notices an unfamiliar girl and smiles warmly, wondering if there are new students she still hasn't met.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um, hi," Veronica says, walking over to her table. "I'm sorry, have we met?"

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry, I don't remember you," Veronica says, desperately trying to figure out who this girl was. She took a sip of her chai and sat down. She totally avoids the question about what she was doing last night.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica's brain kicks into high gear. Whoever this is knows about her detective work. Her brain struggles to find context for the word reciprocity. She finally remembers that they learned about it in Speech class last semester.

"Were you in Professor Cregg's class last semester?" she asks.

Mid-Day

[identity profile] landlord-quark.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Quark is making his full patrol of various businesses in town.

Stopping at the perk, he attempts to order a Raktajino. When the request is met with confusion and gawking, he orders a coffee and sits down at at table, muttering a little.

"Humans..."

[ooc: This is a free invite for anyone to meet the new alien in town... or throw a water balloon at him.]

Grissom strolls in, a bag under his arm, and goes up to the counter to purchase a few items.

After a minute, he now has two bags, one under each arm, the first of which he manages to drop almost in Quark's lap on his way out of the coffeeshop.

"Excuse me," he says, bending over to grab the paper sack, which is now ripping.

"Careful!" Quark rubs behind his left earlobe, but doesn't move in order to help Grissom. "You need some help with that?"

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Grissom grumbles. "Thank you."

Grissom looks up from gathering his things and notices Quark for the first time. He gives him a funny little look, but that's quickly replaced by a mask of cool indifference.

The dragons and talking animals were still a little stranger than this guy's ears.

"I apologize. You're new here?" Grissom asks bluntly, curious as to Quark's ethnic background and considering asking for a blood sample.

Quark rolls his eyes a little. "Just arrived this morning, in fact. I take it you've not seen a Ferengi before." Quark takes a sip of his coffee.

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2006-01-22 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"That would be a safe assumption, as I have no idea what a Ferengi is," Grissom says to the rude, little man stranger, as he drops the bag from the Perk this time, managing to spill a bag of unprocessed tea leaves under Quark's table.

"Very smooth." Quark laughs. "This coffee, I mean. A bit pathetic, really, but it's proabably the best this planet has to offer." He leans over to look under the table.

"I would be a Ferengi. From the planet Ferenginar." Quark shakes his head. "Now do you need some help?"

He looks at her curiously, wondering if he's forgotten the face of one of his students.

Giving her a tentative smile, Gil shuffles over.

"May I help you?"

Grissom's smile turns into a curious little grin. He can list the women who call him Gil, both in Fandom and out of it, on both hands with a few fingers to spare.

Tilting his head, he examines the young woman in front of him.

"Is there anything you are forgetting to mention to me during your greeting?"

Taking a break from the second floor common room redecorating to make a quick coffee run, Callisto wandered into the Perk.

And blinked. She really shouldn't be surprised by anything in Fandom but that new guy's fashion sense...

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] landlord-quark.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
"You stare any longer and I'm going to have to stare charging for tickets." Quark gives a sly grin.

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] psycho-barbie.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"You should use the money to hire a better tailor," Callisto shook her head. "Please tell me you're not the new fashion-design teacher."

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] landlord-quark.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Quark takes another sip of his coffee. "My old tailor would kill you for an insult like that. But don't worry, I'm definitely no teacher." He rubs his chin and grins. "As I've said already today, there isn't enough profit in education."

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] psycho-barbie.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Considering how well some of our teachers seem to live, I'd wonder at the truth of that statement," Callisto said. "So if you're not a teacher, what brings you to Fandom?"

Re: Mid-Day

[identity profile] landlord-quark.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Profit. There isn't any other motivation in the universe." Quark smiles. "I'm a businessman. I take it that such a pretty thing like you is a student?"
