Mauvaise Chance Apartments, Monday Evening

Quark has had a rather interesting day. After meeting a young man with a fetching hat, setting up his bid for Mayor-ship, and talking to a few other folks, he comes back to the apartment complex with a spring in his step.

However, he also knows he'll be looking to find his phaser up in the Quark's Treasure II before nightfall. He didn't trust this town, because he knew Rule of Acquisition 99: Trust is the biggest liability of all.

But for now, he sets up at the counter attached to the apartment lobby, stemming from his office. He listens to the answering machine, and gives the one message a call back. More tenants meant more money. More money he thought was useless, but it was the principal of the matter.

He made sure the Help Wanted sign was still up in the window, and settled in for a nice quiet evening.

Camulus strolled into the lobby of the apartment building, looking around for the proprietor that Ivanova had told him of. While he didn't require more than his sarcophagus to survive, he really needed to stop living in his classroom. Literally.

Quark stands up behind the counter and smiles. "I don't think I've had the pleasure yet. My name is Quark, owner of this humble complex and your best future for Mayor of this wonderful little town."

Camulus flicks his eyes quickly over Quark's impressive ears before nodding. "I am Camulus. I called earlier. I was unaware that the position of Mayor was . . . up for grabs, I believe is the phrase.

"I didn't myself until this very day." Quark smiles. "But as it appears the previous Mayor has vacated the town, I've put up a little bid to replace him. Here barely over a day and I'm already running for Mayor. How d'you like that?"

Quark then realizes he's talking a little too much. "Oh! But pardon me for rambling on like that." And in a move he'd practiced way too many times back in his bar on DS9, Quark hops onto the counter and swings his legs around so he gets to the other side. "You wanted to see about an apartment."

"I did," Camulus replies gravely. "I do not require anything extravagant. I am currently living in my classroom. Before that it was a cargo hold. I'm sure anything you offer will be an improvement."

"Well, if you'd follow me, I can show you one of our smaller apartments." Quark gestures and begins walking towards one of the elevators.

Camulus follows, thinking perhaps he should have done some research on how much he should expect to pay in rent. Phoebe probably would have been glad to come with him. He should have asked.

Quark leads Camulus up to the third floor, and shows him in to Apartment #5 (http://landlord-quark.livejournal.com/1261.html#cutid1).

"Here is the smallest of our apartments. It's a real nice space, homely. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, balcony, a nice little unit. And with utilities, a mere six hundred hoo-mon dollars a month."

Camulus strolls around the apartment, looking into the bedroom of happy to determine if his sarcophagus would fit and inspecting the small kitchen. Perhaps he would learn how to cook. Food might be an interesting change. The balcony also looked promising, a very nice view of Fandom.

"It would suit my needs perfectly, Quark." $600 would be well-covered by his salary. He never spent money on anything else anyways.

"Well, I can draw up the lease and have it ready to sign by the time you return with your belongings? Say... six months to start?" Quark smiles. Hook, line, and sinker.

Camulus is teh clueless about anything regarding business. "Very well. Is tomorrow too soon to move in? My belongings are not extensive."

"Camulus, I could have your lease ready before midnight. But tommorow sounds like a more decent hour to conduct business." Quark gives a little bow. "Pleasure doing business with you."

Camulus returns the bow with a slight one of his own. "You as well. Until tomorrow, then."
