Aziraphale's Rare Books, Morning

Kiki, flying over the town, notices that the town seems ominous this morning - perhaps because there are burned benches in the park and overturned trash cans all over, and the radio reported fights and shootings in the wake of Red's leaving. Hoping that the ducks were smart enough to stay well-hidden all night, Kiki circles higher, not too keen on staying near the ground, and Jiji digs his claws into the broomstick nervously. They hover over the bookshop for a moment as Kiki surveys the ground carefully from her lofty vantage-point, and then, satisfied that it looks clear, she lets the broom drop like a rock.

Anyone who happens to be around the shop at this time would probably hear the doppler effect working on a loud feline screech of irritated fear as witch, broom and cat plummet to earth.

Kiki yanks the broom to a sharp and narrow halt barely a foot above the sidewalk, and leaps off the broom, tugging the heavy key from the cord around her neck, and she hurries inside, breathing a small sigh of relief.

Then, with a grin, she flips the sign to "open," sets out the tea and cookies - quietly slipping half a gingersnap to Jiji and Pogo - and sits down to study her spellbook.

The Baron steps smartly into the bookstore, not so much looking for reading material as to continue his survey of the town. The books in here would take up too much room on his Baron-scaled bookshelves anyways. "Hello?"

"Good morning, miss fellow Studio Ghibli character!" the Baron replies cheerfully. "I am Baron Humbert von Gikkingen, a new arrival in Fandom. Am I speaking with Miranda Aziraphale now?"

"No, my dear, that won't be necessary," the Baron replied. "I was simply taking a stroll and decided to pop in." He turns towards the lounging cat and ferret. "And a good day to you, as well, sirs."

And comfort food!

Kiki might become aware as she sat and studied that some rather yummy smells are beginning to come from the kitchen. Not the baked sort of yummy smells but yummy smells all the same.

Yummy smells and quiet singing as Wilson moved about, making a vegetable soup. It was actually a beef vegetable soup, which would in reality have beef in it, he'd just eat around it. It would also have wine and fresh vegetables and cabbage and all sorts of nummies. It was being made along side the chowder Wilson had mentioned to Grissom and Sara the other night, though out of deference to Phale's tastebuds, Wilson had managed to get fresh tuna steak instead of tofu.

Hearing noises in the lounge, the young doctor wandered that direction, poking his head around the door, a head of cabbage in his hand.

"Oh! Good morning, Kiki." He frowned gently. "Did you have any trouble flying in?"

"Beef vegetable soup from scratch and something called Covenant Chowder." Wilson said with a grin.

"Actually, I'm playing a horrible case of hooky, in order to stay here and not be going out where...it's insane. Want to come on back and keep me company while I chop vegetables?"

Wilson grinned and waited for her to join him back in the kitchen. The place was a happy sort of mess with collections of carrots, green beans, lima beans, corn, green onions, peas, beef, celery, zuchinni, bottles of red wine, just...okay a lot of stuff and when he said from scratch, he meant it!

"That would be wonderful if you wouldn't mind." He exclaimed, pointing her towards a small stack of what looked to be freshly blanched corn. "Could you cut the corn off those cobs?"

In the kitchen the smells were even more intense, wine, beef bones, celery and spices all burbling happilly in a pot, the rich steam filling the air with the scent of what would be a savory broth. There was also a small kettle set off to the side, for the making of tea or cocoa while they worked.

"So you have a safe flight in? How are things up at the school?"

The bell on the door rings, but before Kiki can hurry out to see who's come in, Aziraphale walks into the kitchen. He gives both a warm smile and walks over to kiss Wilson's cheek.

"Now, this isn't how I left things when I went out this morning," he says fondly. "Good morning, Kiki. I hope you didn't have any trouble getting in. James, that smells delightful."

After his failed attempt at the library class, Shep ducks through town avoiding all manner of mayhem to get to the book store. He was now on a mission. Anything Dr. G. felt that he had mention twice that he wasn't giving you... was something he needed to have and sneak into the next class.

He gave Kiki his best 'how can you not feel sorry for this face' look and told her, "Hey Kiki, you gotta help me out. I'm in Dr. Grissom's Sex Cultures class and I have an assignment due, but part of my packet is missing. Please tell me you have this book," and then, banking on her not having a clue what it is, he angled the top of the packet so she could see the xerox of the cover. "It's called the Kama Sutra. It doesn't matter what edition or version - as long as, you know, it's in English - it is. But I have to finish this assignment. I've had detention once this term, and I really don't want it again for not getting my homework done."

He gives her big puppy dog eyes.

Shep gives her a charming smile. "I didn't want to bother him for another packet. I figured if I get the book, I can do a little extra reading... maybe get some extra credit with Lana or something. You're a life saver, Kiki. Seriously, I owe you one." Shep hands her $25. "Keep the change!" he hollers as he practically skips out of the store with his prize.
