The Emporium is open -- Tuesday
He might be distracted by other things in his life right now, but Michael couldn't ignore the hair standing up at the back of his neck. Something was in the air, and knowing Fandom, it probably wasn't something good. He debated opening the shop, but finally did. However, he kept one of the handy-dandy cricket bats with him behind the counter today.
((ooc: As noted here, as long as you leave my boys intact and don't cause a major disaster [fire, flood, major structural damage], you're welcome to come break windows, knock over shelves, destroy merchandise, etc. I don't know how much I'll be on during the day today, though, so if you want to actually interact with freaked out Michael, that'll have to be slow play. Otherwise assume he's hiding behind the counter in terror, clutching the cricket bat.))
((ooc2: Please do not ignore Tobias. He's Michael's employee and is pretty much in charge of things because I'm busy in RL. You will probably not get me responding to much until after 7 MST.))

Pippi enters the shop. The coat and hat are to big for her. She looks like she killed a pirate to keep warm... (and may have. but you don't know that...)
"Good morning." she says as Old Man slinks off behind the shop.
((ooc: slowplay untill later... and don't f with my horse pls!

"Good morning. Can I help you find anything?"

and since I'm a hawk most of the time, I have no need for condoms, sorry...."no subject
"I assume that's what the fires and shooting were about in the park?" Tobias looked like he was personally upsetted by those events, and very annoyed, if not even a bit angry.

He tussles his hair a bit with one hand, looking a bit tired. "Do you know what's gotten into people lately?"

Michael sighed. "Not to add to your miseries, but...we may be moving soon. Ben's taking a job in Belgium and leaving the end of this week, and...I have to decide when or if I'm following him." He glanced up nervously at a noise outside the building. "With all of this going on, I might just try to hop the same plane. I'm sorry to leave you hanging like that, though. I don't know who will buy the place or whether you'd still have a job."

Hearing that Michael and Ben were both leaving, the smile fades. "Oh... I... I'm glad that Ben found a good job," he stumbles a little, shocked by the fact that the only two people he trusted here were leaving. Putting on a smile, he tries to reassure Michael. "I'm sure I can find something. A job's not everything, especially to a hawk," he laughs a little.

"I'm sorry to lay this on you so suddenly. It was laid on me rather suddenly, to be honest. You'll keep in touch, right? And if you need anything, I'll do whatever I can to help."

"He is," she said, then looked pointedly at the monkey, "Today. His name is Mr. Neilson. I'm Pippi. Longstocking. Pippi Longstocking."
Pippi found herself wishing she did need help finding what she needed for some reason suddenly.
"Do you work here?"

when people aren't setting fires near your nest, and Michael's a really nice guy. I take it you're a student?"no subject
"He is a nice guy." she said. "Yes, I just started this semester, it's going pretty well so far. I'm a Freshman."

Putting his hands in his pockets, Tobias looks around the store for something he needed to straighten up.
no subject
"Of course..." she watches him walk off.
Mr. Neilson watches her watching and yanks on one of her braids.
"Ow! Yeah yeah, Ring Dings, right..."
She buys a box of Drake's Cakes Ring Dings and a cricket bat.

"Hello! I'm Pippi Longstocking... I'm also in boots. Are you here with The Baron?" She asked. "This is Mr. Neilson." she adds, indicating the monkey on her shoulder.
no subject
"Well, he looks rather like you, appart from..." she doesn't want to say 'being feline' since Puss doesn't seem to like the word, "The obvious, so I thought you might be related."

Pippi finds it not at all ironic that a cat who only wears a hat, cape, belt, and boots works at a clothing store. Nope, not ironic at all.
"Oh, I'm liking it very much." she said in answer to his question. "It's really the best school I've been to!." once again, not mentioning she'd only ever been to one other school... twice.

Shaking his head, Tobias says, "Don't be sorry about the timing, you had no control over it. I do thank you for your generocity and kindness."
Tobias sighs and picks up a broom. "Something to keep my mind off things..." he says, and begins idly sweeping. Looks like the nest he built might indeed be better for the pair of hawks that fought for it a month ago... if things ever calm down, he hopes they come back.

((ooc: If I open up Ben and Michael's apartment tonight to whomever might be passing by, should I just mod Tobias as being in the spare bedroom? We'll try to be quiet for the resting hawk, I promise. :P))

Victor walked in and waved at the stranger behind the counter. "Hey! Does this place have a key-copying machine?"
no subject
((ooc: Sorry, it was established previously we don't have one. I think I sent them to the NPC locksmith before.))
no subject
"Maybe you should," Victor agreed. His smile turned into a look of confusion, however, when he saw the bat. "You play cricket?"

"I heard something about that, but I didn't know it was that bad. I...I hope everything goes alright." Reluctantly, he waved a goodbye, and rushed off to go get that key copy.

Much like Alfred (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/566147.html),She is much more than she seems. No one here -- aside from Ivanova -- knows what she is capable of, even Lyta herself. Things have changed somewhat, though she suspects what lurks within her. Still, she made it to the Emporium well enough. Now she wants only to get her things and get back to the dorms without having to test her limits.no subject
((ooc: Sorry, I had gone to bed before this was posted))

[No worries. I posted right before my own bedtime. I saw your note earlier, so I thought a response might be delayed. =) ]
