The park, morning

Listening to the radio broadcast had done nothing to improve Tex' mood. The town was still in disarray and no one was stepping up to take control and bring order. No one except for that weasel with too big ears and she really didn't trust him. He'd probably screw her over with weapon taxes if he could. As a freelancer she'd learned that the only person to trust was herself, so maybe it was time for her to step in.

After hearing about the chaos in town, Kawalsky headed into town to find Tex before class. There was no way he could stop her if she was contributing to it, but there was no harm in checking up on his favorite (hah, that made him laugh) mercernary arms dealer.

He checked Blood Gulch Arms first. She wasn't there. His next stop was the park. She was probably plotting to kill the ducks again. While keeping his distance and keeping an eye out for those around him just in case, he called out to her. "Tex."

"Funny. Mine are locked up at your place." He kept his eyes on the perimeter of the park rather than at Tex. "What's going on?"

Kawalsky took the gun and checked it out. He looked back up. "You don't say. No one's taking the job. The Mayor's gone, the Sheriff's AWOL, people are ruining the place. So, when are you leaving?"

He nodded. "Then the town being destroyed won't be good for business."

Kawalsky peered at the poster. "That thing is running for Mayor?"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"If it's not him, it's gonna be someone else."

Kawalsky unsuccessfully tried to smother a snort. "Right. You. Sheriff Tex. You gonna run for Mayor as well? Since you're on a roll and all."

Kawalsky stopped laughing, but he was still amused at the situation. Not so much at Tex taking control, but at the fact that the Mayor, who had been a large talking red dog, had disappeared, the police department was conveniently not around and now the big, bad mercernary in armor was thinking about taking over to restore order. Only in Fandom.

"If you did run, you'd need a campaign. Threatening to shoot people who don't vote for you sure as hell won't work. They'd just bomb your place with you in it or hex you or somethin'. And if you won? Weeeell...you'd have an office." He smirked. "I could bring you muffins."

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Muffins are a legitimate form of bribery. And yeah, mayors get paid and in a place like this, where there's no council to report to, they have executive pow...wait, why the hell am I telling you this? You're not into politics."

"Yeah." He admitted that much. The town needed someone to step up to the plate. Someone who commanded respect through strength. "Someone does." He thought he heard something to his right and looked over there out of the corner of his eye. It was gone, but his instincts told him it was time to get moving. His hand flexed around the gun he was holding. "You've got my vote."

It was a stupid slip-up, and one that made him feel stupid too. Thankfully, Tex seemed to be focused on other things. "Not another duck army..."

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well." He turned the gun around and offered it back to her. "Have fun with that. If you need, y'know, any rocket launchers fired or anything, you know where to find me."

He nodded once. He couldn't carry it around with him on campus, but he could put it in the weapons locker at the firing range. At least then he knew it was there.

"Tex. Don't get yourself killed." Because he didn't want to risk sounding sappy, he added, "I don't wanna have to deal with this town on my own. My schedule's full enough as it is."
