The Park - Thursday Late Morning

It was cold out, brisk but the sun was shinning and Wilson was feeling restless. Lucky for him, so was Aziraphale.

They debated a walk. They debating sitting and feeding the ducks, they debating going down to the Perk for coffee and a literary debate. But in the end, they found themselves outside, on a relatively flat area of grass with a soccer ball.

"I really should get out and exercise more." Wilson commented as he tossed down the ball and then shrugged out of his jacket. Nudging at the ball with his feet, he gave it a little kick and then chased after it.

"Course, this would probably go even better if I knew anything about soccer."

[ooc: Feel free to wander across them or use the Park for your own activities!]

"Football," Aziraphale replied automatically, even though he knew even less about the sport, if that was possible. He stood and watched Wilson kick the ball around the grassy space.

"What are we accomplishing here again, my dear?"

It wasn't that he didn't want to play. It was just that he had a nagging fear that it was somehow beneath his dignity. Although it did sort of look like fun.

Blushing and giving Wilson a 'please tell me you didn't just say that in public' look, Aziraphale watched the ball as it sailed through the air and landed neatly with a soft thump at his feet.

With a smile that was just a teeny bit smug, he said, "You do realize that I haven't a clue how to play this game?" Then he gave the ball a kick that sent it rolling back in the doctor's general direction.

"I do not cheat!"

Aziraphale moved quickly to the side to intercept Wilson as the other man tried to get past him, counting on at the least the possibility that his greater bulk would hamper Wilson even if the angel had no idea what he was actually doing.

"You haven't even tried to explain the rules, you know. I rather think that's an unfair advantage."

Kiki, strolling towards the shop from the Emporium, pauses, looking over the top of her paper bag chock-full of groceries, and watches with amusement.

This aughtta be entertaining.

"So it's yours and I'm supposed to try and steal it? That isn't a very nice premise on which to base a game. Are there rules as to how I'm supposed to carry out this...mugging?"

That's not a twinkle in the angel's eyes. It's just the light reflecting. He is absolutely not having fun. He's only playing along to be nice.

Noticing Kiki watching from nearby, Aziraphale gives her a smile and a wave, then chases off after Wilson.

Kiki waves back, and then turns to smile at Puss as he comes along.

It actually took Aziraphale a moment to realize that he had the advantage, as he was waiting for Wilson's next move. When it dawned on him, however, that the young doctor had made a mistake and let the get ball away from him, he gave his friend an almost gleeful smile and ran toward it.

Setting his foot against the ball, the angel turned and looked at Wilson, challenge evident in his body language.

He'd actually been expecting a less-straightforward approach, so Aziraphale was mildly surprised when Wilson ran at him. He backpedaled quickly to make up for it, kicking the ball away from his friend -- and himself in the process. Glancing at Wilson for a second, the angel then turned and ran after the ball, determined to beat the young doctor to it.

He might</> have accidentally jostled his friend. Just a little bit. Completely by accident.

Oh, now, Aziraphale didn't realize you could grab your opponent! That made a great deal of difference, thank you very much. Twisting his upper body so that Wilson's hold on his shoulder pushed the other man off balance, the angel toed the ball away to his other side and then kicked it past Wilson. Darting around the young doctor, Aziraphale then headed after the ball once again.

Yes, it seemed the angel was playing more of an 'if I can't have it neither can you' sort of strategy.

Kiki looks down around the bag. "Hi Puss!" she says merrily. She shrugs the bag in her arms. "Apple pie, I think. Shortly. How have you been?"

Kiki gives him an impish grin. "Because it would be silly to try to make an apple pie with blueberries, now, wouldn't it? And just for fun, really - a surprise for Mr. Aziraphale and Dr. Wilson when they come back into the store."

"I know they will. Well, as long as I don't do anything stupid, like accidently substitute salt for sugar. My dad did that once on my cereal when I was a kid."

"He's good; I'll let him know you asked about him. He's over in the shop now, keeping an eye on Pogo while I went to the store," Kiki grins. "And we met the Baron - he's amazing! The Baron came by the store the other day; he's quite a fascinating gentleman."

[ooc: Hee, no worries, it's easy to mod Jiji as being anywhere ;-) And incidently, the father-salt-cereal thing? True story for the mun. Serious ew.]

"Have fun!" Kiki calls after him, waving.

With another laugh at Dr. Wilson and Mr. Aziraphale, Kiki went into the bookstore and headed for the kitchen. She had a pie to make!
