The Perk, before 5th period

When Isabel looked outside Monday morning, the snow was gone. After being cooped up in the dorm for most of the weekend, she decided to take a walk to town to get a coffee before Western Lit.

With a little bit of time to spare, she sat at the front table of the Perk and watched people walk past.

Angela has rushed off to the Perk for a quick caffeine break, but she's happy to see Isabel. "Hey," she waves. "Got a second?"

"Hi Angela! I have a few minutes before class. What's up?"

Angela lowers her voice, debating how to word what she has to say. She is in a public place, after all. "The study group I went to last night? We might want your help. It's, um ... it has to do with what happened to you last week. Stop by my room tonight and I'll fill you in."

For a minute Isabel was confused, wondering what a study group had to do with anything that happened to her last week. But then she remembered some of the conversations that had taken place around her in the Student Council meeting on Frdiay.

"Oh, okay," she said somewhat hesitantly. If they were planning what she thought they were, Isabel isn't certain she wants to be in the line of fire. She proved on Wednesday that she's not ready to be any kind of warrior. But Angela doesn't seem willing to talk in public, so she'll wait until tonight to ask questions. "I'll, um, bring that lotion by as well then."

Angela's face is solemn as she considers Isabel. "Good. I'll see you after classes."

Jake enters the Perk dragging a bag with him and scowling. He'd been hoping the whole snow trashed house thing had been an elaborate joke on Logan's part, but apparently not. At least some of his posters, clothes, stuffed animals and other things were all right. And the Reader, thank god.

Isabel had just ordered an espresso to bring up to Professor Chaucer when Jake walked in. "Jake! How are you?"

Jake was flipping something that looked like a tv remote when he came up to the counter. He made a face. "Eh. You don't want to know -- a hazelnut mocha, please," he ordered.

"Bad weekend?" She stopped, "Wait, you live in town. Does that mean you got stuck in the gym all weekend?"

"No, thank god. Boyfriend in the dorms, but the house got thrashed by Logan." He looked over at her then sighed. "Okay, snow monsters might have had something to do with it." Jake flipped the g-reader again, ending up pointing it at Isabel.

"Oh no. Well, I'm glad you're okay though." She looked down at her watch. Then picked up the coffee the barista had placed in front of her. "I'm sorry, I'd love to chat more. But I'm do in class in ten minutes. Maybe next time?" With one last smile she headed towards the door.

Jake waved after her, smiling, then looked down at the reader with a frown. Hadn't Isabel said she was human? Interesting. Very interesting.

He grabbed his mocha and found a table to sit down at.
