CARITAS--Wednesday--OPEN

Jarod opened the bar, still thinking about the phone call with Parker and his discussion with Callisto the day before.

He waved to the band and picked up a used copy of Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter, thinking about grand gestures. He really didn't want to lead a parade through town on his way to his own hanging. He'd have to come up with something better.

It had been a long and fairly uneventful day, except for the guy who wanted to heat himself with power-rays. She really just wanted to socialize with something that wasn't a metal construct she made herself.

"Hello Mr. Jarod" She totally failed to remember his last name, if he even gave it to her. But at least it was someone she knew for a change.

"Any chance i could get something with a lot of fruit juice and a very very small amount of alcohol in it?"

"Just Jarod, Agatha," he said, smiling. "What kind of fruit juice and alcohol would you like? We've got anything you could think of."

"Alright JustJarod." She smiled back. "Hm. I have no idea. Something citrus-like for the juice, and you know i never know the names of alcoholic things. Something, anything. I have had a mostly boring day, mostly bereft of human interaction." She adjusted her glasses. "One of THOSE days, you know?"

"I do indeed, although I don't mind the boredom after last weekend," Jarod replied, mixing her a weak screwdriver and setting it in front of her, complete with jaunty paper umbrella. "So, what do you know about grand gestures?"

"All in all, after it is over, last weekend was sort of fun actually. Next time i will be prepared, there will be a flamethrower, oh yes." She looked at the umbrella, took it out of her drink, and having licked any bit of drink of it's stem put it in her hair. It looked exceedingly dorky.

"Grand gestures? Like in theater, or like when you are making a point to someone? Or some other kind?"

"I was thinking more along the lines of a gesture that says 'I'm not apologizing, even though you think I should, but I'd like you to stop hanging up on me.' Do they make gestures like that? Maybe a smirk. I'm good at smirking."

Orlin walked into the bar, he was tired, and satisfied with his days purchesses. He walked over to the bar and waited for the guy behind the counter to notice him, he was in no rush, and he had remembered how much he had enjoyed what humans called alcohol and was looking forward to having his first drink unchaperoned.

"Good evening, sir. What can I get for you?"

"Ah, one of those gestures. Well... I have always liked flowers for those sorts of situations. They tend to come with these little cards where one can write 'i am not apologizing, but here, have these'. Not very dramatic though. there is always singing under windows. And large expenditures of money. But the best presents are hand-made by the giver..." She was not going to even bother tellignhim that smirking is not the way to go.

"What would you suggest?" Orlin replied pleasantly, "I remember that last time I liked vodka mixes, but perhaps I should branch out." He continued, he looked over and noticed the girl from one of the shops earlier. "Hello," he said pleasantly, "I hope I am not intruding?"

"Well, if you want something sweet, there's pineapple juice with coconut rum. If you want to try something simple, there's scotch or whiskey. I usually drink Dr. Pepper, though."

"She's not really a flowers kind of person..." Jarod thought about Agatha's other suggestions. "She likes weapons. I'd buy her bullets, but I'm afraid she'd use them to shoot me."

Hand made presents and singing, though? Those had potential.

"I would stay away from giving weapons, that really sends the wrong message if someone is expecting an apology."

[[leaving work now, will be back in several hours]]

Orlin thought for a moment, "Can I have a Corona?" He finally asked after a few long moments. "By the way, what should I call you? I remember that it pays to be nice to the barkeep."

"Right," Jarod said, deep in thought. Obviously this would require some ~~alcohol~~ more study.

[[NP. See you then.]]

"Sure," Jarod said, putting a Corona with lime in front of the man. "And I'm Jarod. Trust me, around here? It pays to be nice to everybody. Except maybe the vampires, and I have to assume that even they respond better to courtesy."

Orlin pondered Jarods advice, " But Clay told me earlier, well implied actually, that you just kill vampires?"

"Not necessarily. A friend of mine told me that there's a souled one on the island. You wouldn't want to kill him by mistake."

"A Vampyr with a soul..." Orlin looked intrigued, " Would it be nosey if I asked you to tell me about this Vampyr?"

Orlin waited patiently for a long minute, and then finally asked, " Please?"

Jarod's brow winged up. "What?"
