The Park, in the Morning

Kiki sits on a park bench, tossing crusts to the ducks.

With the source of the scones and biscuits gone, the ducks are just going to have to make do with plain old wheat bread.

With nothing to do before 3rd Period, Victor decideed to take a jog through the park. It was also a test of nerve, since he hadn't entered it alone since the night that vampire had threatened to kill him. He'd been researching since then, however, and found out that there was no way she could touch him in the sunlight, so that helped, as did the comfort of the blessed cross hanging around his neck.

As he turned around the corner, he saw the girl from the Azriphale's shop, and realized that he didn't rememebr her name. Well, now's my chance, he surmised.

"Hey," he said, slowing to a stop and taking a breather.

Kiki was a little startled, she turned her head quickly, and her face relaxed into a smile as she saw who it was. "Hi," she answered. "It's... Victor, right?" She blushed slightly, self-conscious and embarrassed about not recalling his name exactly. "Or Walter?"

Victor couldn't help but smile. At least she hadn't called him Lorne.

"Nah, I'm Victor. Walter's my other half, so it's easy to get us mixed up. No worries, since I kinda forgot your name, too."

"Kiki," she answered with a grin and a nod. "Actually...I'm glad I ran into you. Or you into me, since I was stationary. Whichever. Anyway - you were asking about defenses against certain types of creatures, right?"

"Yeah, I was. Thanks for the books, by the way. They've helped me and Pip out a lot." He frowned a little. "Too bad the store closed down."

"Yeah..." Kiki replied, her face closing down for a moment. She blinked, keeping her eyes closed for a second longer than an ordinary blink, and when she opened them again, she smiled again. "I was talking to Ms. Calendar last week about some defensive spellwork to protect myself from...well, anything, I guess. She ended up giving me a note to access the Special Collections and the names of a few books to try looking in. I haven't gone yet, but if I find anything, would you like me to pass it along to you and Walter?"
