Aereopagitica, Monday Morning
Giles has opened the store. A small card on the counter says:
"President's Day Sale. All items by Founding Fathers 50% off (first editions excluded)."

After a few minutes of looking around, Lucas wandered back over. "Do you have any Descarte?"
[ooc: dear god, I hope I spelled that right. . . .]

"Right here, sir."

Of course, now he might be forced to admit he knew very, very little about Descartes. He couldn't very well have that.
"Thanks." He glanced slightly at Giles. "You're new around here?"

Late in the afternoon
Re: Late in the afternoon
Giles smiled. "Good afternoon, miss."
Re: Late in the afternoon
"Good afternoon. I am lookign for some light-hearted, 'fluffy' reading material to relax with. I seem to be highly unfamiliar with the authors of this...place. Could you recommend something?"
Re: Late in the afternoon
"The Collected Works of Miss Jane Austen. Delightful and entirely distracting and...fluffy."
And if Giles maybe, in his heart of hearts, had, at the age of fourteen, cherished the hope that he might someday grow up to be Mr. Darcy and whisk away his own Miss Elizabeth Bennet, well, who wants to make something of it?Re: Late in the afternoon
Re: Late in the afternoon
"They're essentially quaint, delightful romances in which the heroine gets the man she wants and deserves, and all those who would stand in the way get exactly what they deserve."
There was a smile on Giles's face and a sparkle in his eye. His enthusiasm for this author is evident.

Sometime in the morning...
Oh, no, wait. This was Fandom. That did happen every day.
He rolled his eyes and pushed the door open. "Not quite in the market for American founding fathers," he said, with a wave of greeting. "What've you got in the way of English ex-Watchers?"

{{OOC - For the record, though it's probably obvious from a million places, this is basically Season 4 Xander, albeit pulling an Oz and repeating his senior year of high school, for different reasons. Definitely immediately identifiable as younger than the last time your Giles would have seen him, not to mention the whole 'two eyes' thing.}}
Re: Sometime in the morning...
He came out from around the counter and gave Xander a hug. "How are you?"
To his credit, Giles curbed the urge to ask him, "What's the last apocalypse you remember?"
Re: Sometime in the morning...
Re: Sometime in the morning...
He stepped back and listened to Xander. He was very glad to see him. Between Willow and Buffy, Xander and his every-day problems could be somewhat comforting.
Well, when he wasn't, for example, inviting singing and dancing demons into town.
"Weirder than Sunnydale. That's quite an order. So, am I to understand that you are in your Senior year..." Giles looked at Xander over the top of his glasses, and tried and failed to hide a small grin, "again?"
Re: Sometime in the morning...
a farfetched AU that allowed Xander to be from Season 3 yet start as a senior in the fallexchange for the aforementioned not getting eaten by a giant snake."Re: Sometime in the morning...
Giles paused. Maybe Xander had swung more than clear of anything dangerous or occult since coming here. Giles certainly wouldn't have blamed him. He continued.
"I, ah, understand some other 'old friends' of ours are here? Angel, Darla, and Drusilla?"

Late Monday Evening, Around 7
Smiling, Nat made her way into the shop.
Re: Late Monday Evening, Around 7
"Good evening. May I help you?"

Really, it was a good thing he'd retired. He was starting to see the undead in every person who didn't have a tan.
"Well, we have a wide selection of fiction: romance, science fiction, fantasy, historical, et cetera. We also have an array of medical thrillers, but I'm guessing that's not something you'd be interested in at this time."
