Alfred had left early in the morning, giving careful intstructions to Wadsworth regarding the running of the restaurant.

Apparently there were problems in Wayne Enterprises board that he needed to sort out. Bruce's interests to be protected and all.

Wadsworth opened the restaurant promptly on time, with strict orders that Walter was not to attempt work.

_{[[So I barely slept at all last night and am totally out of it. Walter's injured, so he's not going to be doing a lot of stuff. Walter will still be running the dinner thread, but it will be Wadsworth that does all the actual serving. Threads up!}

A basket is waiting on the counter with the words "Mars party" written neatly on a lable attatched to it.

Attempts by non-Mars party members to pick up the basket would be...ill-advised.

Veronica shows up at precisely five and picks up her dinner order from Wadsworth.

Walter is seated unobtrusively at a table at the back of the restaurant.

He'll be watching Wadsworth like a hawk, but will not be serving tonight.

Victor came in and looked around for Walter.

[ooc: Stopping here in case Wadsworth's butler-fu stops him before he sees Walter.]

Wadsworth was indeed ready to help the peculiar young man when Walter interrupted. "He is with me, Wadsworth."

Walter waved from his seat. "Over here."

"Hey!" Victor said, smiling as he walked over and took a seat. "How's business?"

"Quiet," Walter said, smiling as Wadsworth left a glass of ice and a Henry Weinhart's root beer on the table next to Victor.

"I am hardly needed here." He leaned forward and spoke very quietly when Wadsworth was away helping a ~~NPC~~ customer. "But I do not think that Alfred trusts Wadsworth all that much."

"Why not?" he asked, just as quietly. "He seems okay."

"I am not sure." Walter shook his head and leaned over to pour Victor's drink. "But I do not think I would trust him with any of my deepest secrets."

He glanced up as Wadsworth passed by and smiled. "But we can talk about that another time. How was your afternoon? Would you like some dinner?"

Victor smiled at Wadsworth too, then looked back at Walter. "I swung by Agatha's and rescheduled Bot's operation. I'm still not sure what kind of body he should go in, though. I mean...what if he hates it? I hope I can bring him with me and find out what he's interested in."

He sighed and took a sip of his soda. "Yeah, some dinner would be great. Are you gonna eat anything?"

"I tend to eat off an on throughout the evening, but, since you are here, I will have something with you." He motioned for Victor to stay seated, and got up. "Did you have anything in mind, or shall I surprise you?"

Victor thought about it for a moment, then smiled. "How about you bring me something British? Something you think I'd like."

Walter laughed and disappeared into the kitchen, returning a few minutes later with two dishes, which he set down in the center of the table. "You have to choose - the poached filet of dover sole in champagne with the heirloom tomato risotto, or the pepper steak with devon cream and a yukon gold potato puree and white truffle oil." He laughed quietly. "Puree is a fancy way of saying mashed potatoes."

Both plates also had a generous helping of broccoli.

"The fish and meat are British, but the side dishes are what you get when a California chef puts his hand in."

"Hmmm...can I have the steak, please? It sounds really good."

"Of course." Walter took a seat next to Victor and passed him the steak. "There are definite compensations to working here."

He took a bite of his sole and smiled at Victor. "Are you looking forward to the trip?"

"Yeah, I really am. I feel like I share so much with you about my culture and I don't know anything about yours. Even if it's not entirely like you remember...I wanna see your home."

Walter stabbed a piece of broccoli and ate it before answering. "I do not think it will be very much the same. I do not want to be like one of those old men in the park feeding the pigeons and complaining about how much things have change. After more than sixty years, I am looking at is as a field trip to a whole new place."

"Yeah, that's true...but it'll still be England! I mean, we can go see the Black Pudding Memorial or something. It'll be fun!"

He took a bite of his mashed potatoes and smiled. "This is pretty good."

Walter smiled and then noticed Pippi and Nadia and waved them over to join them.

"Ah man. We were gonna give the new guy a hard time." said Pippi comming over and grinning.
