Caritas - Open [3/21]

Veronica opens the club on time and leans on the bar, chin resting on her hands.

She's very much looking forward to her upcoming trip to California with Piper.

Piper wandered into Caritas mostly because she was bored.

"Hey Veronica," she said, glancing around the bar. "It's dead again, huh?"

After ACJ this morning and then Western Civ in the afternoon, Archie decided he could use a drink, and headed down to Caritas.

"Hello, Veronica!" he said cheerfully as he seated himself at the bar.

"Yeah, it has been. I don't know why."

She smiled.

"I am so looking forward to this weekend."

"Hey, Archie," she greeted him with a grin. "What can I get you tonight?

"Me too," Piper said with a grin. "So, any place in particular you want to visit in San Francisco? I'm sure my grams will let me borrow the car."

"Not particularly," Veronica said. "You're the native. Where are the cool places?"

"Just a beer tonight, I think," he said. "Some Tennant's, if you have it. I don't want to be too far gone tonight and embarrass myself on the radio again. How have you been, since I was sadly remiss in saying hello in class today?"

Veronica pulled the draft and set it in front of Archie.

"I'm doing well," she said. "Heading out of town for a few days. How about you?"

"There's Fisherman's Wharf. That's a popular tourist destination. There's a spot near the Golden Gate Bridge that's pretty cool," Piper said. "Ooh, we can go to Chinatown also."

"I'm up for whatever you want to do," Veronica said honestly.

Archie slid the money across the bar with a grateful smile and sipped at the beer. "That's just what I needed, I think," he declared.

"Me? I'm terribly confused by my project for Professor Tick's class, but all right otherwise." He smiled. "A few days out of town sound pleasant. If you don't mind my asking, where are you off to?"

Lindsey wanders in to Caritas, looking for Piper. Spotting her, he grins. Spotting Veronica, he stifles a groan.

"Hey ladies!"

"Piper and I are heading out to California for a few days," she said. "We're going to visit her Grams and big sister in San Francisco and then visit my dad in Neptune."

Piper's a little surprised to see Lindsey here, but she isn't going to complain.

"Hey," she greeted with a smile.

"Ah, California." He smiled and took another sip. "That sounds like it would be a great deal of fun. I've never been, myself; I never had the opportunity. Though I imagine it's certainly not the untamed frontier it was in my day."

"Lindsey!" Veronica greeted enthusiastically. "How are you? I haven't talked to you in ages."

"Not quite," Veronica giggled. "Though some of the people I know out there are pretty untamed," she joked.

"I'll let you know next time I'm heading home for a visit, if you want to tag along and check it out. Have you been on a plane at all?"

"The closest I've come was touching that Viper craft that Cally has up on the roof," he replied. "I'm not even going to begin to attempt to understand how those things stay in the air."

"Thought I might find you hanging out here," Lindsey said to Piper. "Getting shitfaced without me again?"

"And Veronica," he continued with much less enthusiasm. "Yeah, it's been a while. ~~I was trying to keep it that way! WOE.~~"

"I have no idea how they work either," Veronica admitted. "But they make cross-country travel a lot more expedient."

"How long does it take to cross the country on a plane?" asked Archie after another gulp of beer. "A good thing I'm not a merchant sailor, or I might be out of a job. Not that I have a job at the moment . . ."
