Giles was sitting in the store, talking on the phone.

"What do you mean you can't ship them to me?

"No, I can't really get away at the moment.

"Really? On the internet you say? And it's even better than seeing them in person? My word. How do I find it?

"What's a URL?"

He scribbled something on a piece of scrap paper.

"Thank you."

Hmm. Maybe was going willingly into the computer age after all.

Giles has scrounged a Dell catalog from his junk mail and is looking at it with interest.

Agatha took advantage of not having to open the store today and went into the bookstore.

She came up tot he counter and smiled at Giles, and his catalog.

"Looking for a new computer?"

"Not so much new, as my first," Giles said.

"Did you know you can look at hundreds of manuscripts from all over the world on the computer in near to microscopic detail?" He was a 5-year-old on Christmas morning. Seriously.

"I got my first computer only about a month ago. Pippi helped me set it up."

She glanced at what he was looking but couldn't see.

"You can? Really? I wonder what else is out there? so far i have only found shopping. Are you getting a laptop or a desktop?" Not that she really knew anything at all about computers, but this was a very nice man and she was being friendly. And possibly helpful.

Giles is practicing magic again. A burning candle on the counter is being alternately lit and very deliberately extinguished. Firmly extinguished, even.

Nadia came in and headed straight for the sales desk, holding out a ten dollar bill. "I'm sorry if I'm a little bit late in paying. It's been a weird week."

"No, no, you're within the ten days we agreed on." Giles rang up the register and put the ten in the drawer.

"How wierd? You're-suddenly-in-love-with-your-best-friend wierd orThe-mayor-is-actually-a-giant-snake-and-is-going-to-end-the-world wierd?"

Nadia blinked at that. Mayor? Snake? What?

How about someone-put-a-hit-on-your-life, your-father-you-didn't-know-abducted-and-drugged-you, and now-everyone-you-know-is-getting-hurt weird?

"Just . . . weird, I guess. Thanks." She headed out again.
