Town hall - Monday

The rumours about the men in shorts have abated, but in between his paperwork Braca is reading a book on Uniforms Exposed (Dress, Body, Culture). It's an interesting read.

Braca still thinks leather uniforms are the best.

In the middle of the afternoon, a young blonde drifts into the mayor's office.

She's carrying a camera but doesn't seem to be paying the slightest bit of attention to where she's going until she's practically face to face with Braca. Nose to nose even.

She then stares at him as though she were taking his measure at the same time as planning a tea party.

"Hello." She said after a moment or two. She was still staring.

Let this be a lesson not to get too involved into reading about how uniforms express certain implicit codes about power.

Braca looked up from his book and blinked. He almost demanded to know what the girl was doing here, when he reminded himself of the open office day. "Hello. Can I help you?"

Luna did not budge, as may have been polite for Braca's personal comfort, or blink. "Are you not the mayor and therefore leader of this island?"

"I am," Braca frowned at the child. "Please, take a seat."

"That is well." Luna lifted her camera. "May I take a picture instead? My father always says pictures are preferred to goblin uprisings by fifty-six percent."

"Goblin uprising?" Braca hadn't heard anything about goblins. Then the picture part registered. "What for?"

"What with the underhanded dealings of the ministry, everyone should be considered with the possibility of goblin uprisings. It ranks forty-three percent higher than the return of the dark lord or chocolate shortages among the general population, according to the latest polls." Luna fiddled with the something on the camera and answered quite innocently, "scrapbooking."

Braca just stared because half of this didn't make sense and Tex never told him anything about goblins or dark lords or chocolate shortages that might cause panic with the troopers. Or scrapbooking for that matter.

"I'm afraid you're not making much sense," Braca finally said.

Luna paused for a moment and tired again. "I would like to record your outward likeness for an Arts and Crafts project which I'm making in Professor The Tick, Dean of Students' class, that I will then share with my father when I return home."

Braca blinked. While his rank hadn't been blow, he usually didn't have people exactly interested in him. This was an interesting turn of development.

"I believe that would be acceptable," he nodded and straightened up further into the perfect Peacekeeper position.

"My father has a great interest in political figures." Luna smiled. She didn't mention it was because he suspected they were all corrupt in some fashion.

She held up her camera and snapped away. "Thank you, sir."

Braca just nodded and hoped his uniform looked good on camera. "And who is your father?"

"He is Mr. Lovegood, publisher of The Quibbler." She answered as she began to move away from the mayor's desk, finally giving him some breathing room.

"Quibbler?" Braca deflated a bit as he never heard about that before. That or he might be grateful to have more room. It was a toss up.

"It's the second most widely read paper in all of England." At least, in wizarding England, but that's all Luna knows of England.

"I see," he nodded as he had read about this England. They liked red uniforms and weird hats. "Was there anything else you wanted?"

"No, sir. Thank you." And with that, she withdrew to find other (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/885279.html) things of interest to a camera lens.
