The Pond, afternoon

Hamlet wandered down to pond in Fandom Town to snap some pictures for his scrapbook on the disposable camera Professor The Tick had given him.

The water in the pond looked unusually brownish. And smelled pretty good for a change. He bent down to examine the water more closely, and a look of confusion spread across his face.

Had the pond always been full of coffee?

Not really knowing what to do faced with that discovery, he snapped a couple pictures of the odd water and the chocolate fish that kept bobbing up every once in a while, wandered over to The Perk to grab a disposable cup, and scooped up some pond-coffee to drink while trying to figure out what was going on.

[OOC: Totally open to anyone and everyone. Stare at the pond full of coffee, use this for your own pond area needs, or completely ignore Hamlet and do some "scrapbooking" of your own in the bushes, or whatever.]

"Is the pond supposed to be that color?" Briar had his hands tucked into his pockets and appeared to be out for a stroll.

"Does it taste like coffee?" Briar glanced around, trying to spot any hyper active ducks that might be in the area.

"I think the general rule is: Magic must have rules, not logic."

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
"There is some magic in my home world. I've only been here a month or so. But that rule I think is universal."

"Briar, Briar of the rose. Smile for me and take a pose?" Luna slightly sang-songed and held up her camera.

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Briar turned towards Luna. "Luna, Luna with wich nothing I can think of rhymes well except for tuna. A pose? And what's that?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Luna giggled at the comparison and then she explained, "this is a camera. It will record your likeness which I will then put into the scrapbook that I am making for Professor The Tick, Dean of Students' class."

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Briar smiled charmingly at Luna. "All right! Except, what's a scrapbook?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Best I understand, it's a large blank book which is then filled with memories and words and glitter by the person to whom it belongs." Luna grinned. "I believe the glitter is of the most importance."

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"My foster-sisters, one of them at least, would have liked that. What do you do with the glitter?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Did you like having sisters? I think I might, had I any." Luna smiled. "You glue it to the pages, or you may wear it should you so desire."

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Foster-sisters." Briar corrected. "And they're cool, when they're not driving me and each other crazy. Um, what does it look like then?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Glitter is like... teeny, tiny reflective mirrors that don't break and are so light weight a breeze can lift thousands of them."

[identity profile] greenmagebriar.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wow, that sounds cool. Do you have some?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-07 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not with me, but I shall try to find some for when next we meet."

After her adventure (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/884015.html?thread=34839343#t34839343) at the Mayor's office, Luna wandered by the pond on her way back to class.

She had to concede that it was rather an ugly color for a pond.

"Aren't you worried about catching Piscis Peculiarous?" She asked the older boy drinking from the pond.

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, of course. Everyone who drinks after fish should be concerned! It's quite a nasty thing to catch." Luna looked at him quite seriously, "you aren't feeling feverish are you?"

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-05 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Piscis Peculiarous is a possibly fatal, brain-wasting disease of fish, which humans may contract when drinking from the places where aquatic creatures reside. Though it's never killed on a scale grand enough to gain popular notice like much more deadly and dreaded marine diseases." Luna told him.

[identity profile] narglette.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm afraid not." Luna took a moment to snap a photo of the pond and Hamlet. "In human subjects, the only way to tell is if a person begins to exhibit certain symptoms such as dry mouth, rapid-heart beat, a strong desire to go swimming, randomly losing track of appointments, and a liking for facial piercings. There have been rumors of the spontaneous sprouting of gills, but I don't give it much credence a that could happen from simply consuming poorly mixed Gillywater if it's heavy on the Gilly and light on the water."

Jaye's running handwavey errands in town, and when she passes by the park, she has to stop. And sniff the air a lot.

Uh Oh.

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
The air smelled funny. That's what he noticed first. Then, faintly, a sound like, well he couldn't quite tell what it was.

"quackquackquackquackquack!"

Strange.

"Quackquackquackquack!"

Really what on earth was-

"QUACKQUACKQUACKQUACKQUACK!!!!!!"

"Woah!" Clark ducked barely in time as something zoomed past his head. "What in the world?"

What in the world, was a heavily caffinated Duck. Wearing a Kamikazi headband.

"QUACKQUACKQUACKQUACKQUACK!!!"*WHAM!!!!*

Clark rocked back on his heels, partly out of surprise. The bridge of his glasses was broken, and his nose hurt, but there didn't seem to be any permenant damage.

Wandering past on her trip through town with her camera, Sakurazaki wonders just how in the hell a duck got a Kamikazi headband. The overcaffination doesn't make her flinch one bit, but that headband? Yeah.

She makes sure to get a picture. *Click!*

"qu...ack," The duck quacked from it's prone position on the ground. Clark looked horrified. "Oh no," he said, bending down to the duck.

Re: Uh Oh.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki edges over, looking down at the duck as well, and then glancing at the man. "You think it's okay? Why does he have a Kamikazi headband? What do you suppose he was trying to demolish?"

Re: Uh Oh.

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Clark regarded his damaged glasses, then gingerly put them back on. "Uhm, my head I think." he said. "I don't think it's okay, it looks hurt."

Re: Uh Oh.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you think there's anything we can do?" she asks with a frown. "Quickly? I've got to get back to class soon."

Re: Uh Oh.

[identity profile] mildly-super.livejournal.com 2006-06-06 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Clark removed his jacket. "The only thing I can think of is to take it to the clinic." he said. "Maybe someone there has some veterinary experience.
He carefully wrapped the duck in his jacket.

She nods. "Good luck with that, sir."

Jaye returns some time later with an empty gallon jug, dipping it into the lake to fill it up.

Because when the Apocalypse comes and the government puts the kibash on the coffee supply, it's good to have something stored up. Or something. Shhh. Rory and Jake would appreciate the thought.
