Cafe Fina, Monday

Walter opened Cafe Fina on time, and relieved that here, at least, the only truth he was likely to reveal was the chef's secret sauce recipe. Which might get him whacked with a cleaver, but which was better than some things he'd been spouting in the past half a day or so.

He was in for the lunch shift, Wadsworth would take over for dinner.

[ooc: OCD lalala wait, please up. The specifics of Walter's conversation with Alfred are NFB. That they spoke is fine for broadcast.]

"Hello, Walter," Alfred said as he passed by with a cup of tea. "What do you think of the new alterations?"

"Excellent observation," Alfred said. "I believe Master Wayne heard about the dangers of Fandom and thought it prudent to build a Panic Room. Personally, I find myself a little insulted. But I forgive him his worries. He's like a son to me."

"Have I never spoke of Master Bruce to you? Well, my family has served his for quite some time. When my father dad, I had just retired from British Intelligence and have very little to do with myself, so I thought to myself "Why not?" and flew over to Gotham City to meet Master Thomas. Master Bruce had not even been born then. When Master Thomas and his wife died, I raised the lad more or less by myself."

"He is vengence. He is the night. He is Batman," Alfred said simply as he sipped his tea.

"I just said that out loud, didn't I?"

"No. Very much so. It would be better if you forgot that I ever said it. I'm fairly certain he wouldn't kill you, but he would find a way to make it clear how he felt about anyone finding out that he dresses up as a bat and fights crime."

"... That explains a lot," Alfred said. "It appears to be spreading. Be sure to watch yourself around Wadsworth, then. And hope that no one asks you 'Do you know any secrets?'"

"A wise decision on Miss Longstocking's part," Alfred said. "I shall follow suit. Have a nice day, Walter."
