Caritas - Open [6/13]

Veronica was in a strange mood when she got to work and it was only made stranger by the fact that the zombies had re-doubled their protest efforts and the whole stage was plastered in signs. She shook her head and wondered if GOB was going to give in to their request for a sax.

She set about getting things ready and tried to quell her nerves. She had no idea if Archie was going to remember the conversation they had the other night.

Having been sucked into her studies, literally, Elle emerged from her attic apartment on a Tuesday and decided that she needed a drink and people.

She smiled at Tino and got him to put a little rum in her diet coke, then she spun around to watch for anyone she knew.

"Hey, Elle," Veronica greeted with a grin. "How's your workshop going?"

It was Tuesday night, of course, and so Archie made his usual trip down to Caritas. There was an inexplicable urgency to his walk today, though; almost a vague sense of increased concern for Veronica, even if he couldn't explain where it had come from.

"Hello, Veronica," he said as he sat down at the bar. The greeting was a bit more cheerful than was his habit, as if he felt the need to prove something. What, he didn't exactly know.

"Hey," Veronica said, leaning across the bar for a kiss.

She was trying to figure out the best way to gauge if he remembered anything. Though she was guessing he probably didn't, since she hadn't until she'd read the email she sent.

Archie lingered a few more seconds over the kiss than he normally did. "How are you tonight?" he asked, not quite pulling back just yet. "For some reason I feel particularly inclined to want to know, tonight."

"I'm okay," Veronica assured him. She sighed. "How much do you remember about Sunday?"

Archie gave her a slightly odd look.

"I remember we had dinner," he replied slowly. "And quite a talk over it, though oddly enough I can't remember what it was we talked about."

Tim didn't have to get up tomorrow so he decided that a late night in Caritas could be fun.

"Hey Veronica." he smiled.

"Hi Veronica!" Elle said cheerfully. "It's going really well except this week I missed because I was stuck inside, um, well...I was interning for a senator." she dodged.

Veronica nodded. "I didn't remember either," she said. "But last night I sent Angel an email and this morning I re-read it."

She handed Archie a piece of paper (http://marsheadtilt.livejournal.com/66612.html). "That's a printout of what I sent him that pertains to you and our dinner. There was more to the email, but it involved other people."

tim's mind flailed when he saw Elle, seeing as how he'd thought she was a student when they first met, but he was endeavoring to be more outgoing these days, so instead of hiding, greeted her.

"Hi, Elle right?"

"Tim, how are you?" Veronica asked with a grin. "What can I get you?"

Tim relaxed and people watched, and tried to ignore all the signs that seemed to be hinting at Zombie dirtiness.

"Oh, wow," Veronica replied. "That must be really interesting."

She wondered just what kind of 'interning' Elle had been doing.

"Tim!" Elle squeaked and sat her drink down. She was up in a shot and leaned in to kisskiss the air on either side of his head.

"How have you been? I haven't seen you in, like, forever! Is camp so much fun?"

Nadia's weird mood had been, for the most part, gotten rid off after lunch. She was still feeling like she was forgetting something, though, and though she knew she wasn't the only one, she figured she should go find the person who generally seemed to have answers about stuff.

Thus, she was looking for Veronica. "Hey,"

"Not really. It might have been cool if it had been, you know, like...real. I'm starting to think this town is kind of weird. I never got sucked into a Federal law book before." Elle said, clearly confused.

But the confusion passed quickly, like most other unpleasant thoughts, and she smiled again. "How about you? Anything new and exciting?"

"Hey," Veronica greeted back. After running into Bel and talking to Piper, she'd completely forgotten about talking to Nadia. "How are you?"

"I'm okay. I can't shake this feeling that I'm forgetting something important, though."

Archie read the printout over slowly several times, his lips silently forming the words.

"We talked about all this?" he asked, finally. "I don't remember any of it, but I didn't think to write any of it down. That might explain this odd sense of relief I've felt since yesterday."

And increased concern for her, as well, but Archie knew how Veronica felt about overprotectiveness and, not being compelled to speak the full truth today, didn't mention that part.

"You literally got sucked into a book?" Veronica said. "On the Fandom weirdness scale, I'd rate that about a five, maybe."

She grinned. "I'm doing okay. Nothing terribly new and exciting, though I am taking my workshop into DC for a field trip on Sunday."
