Aereopagitica, Thursday, 15 June
Giles opened the store and was working on checking every. Single. Book. He was making sure that the books had, on the inside, what they said they had on the outside.
Not that he was paranoid or anything.

He surreptitiously wiped a little post-nap drool away. Ah, good. She'd brought the book.
"Hello, River!" Giles smiled. "I see you've brought back the book. How are you today?"

"Who--or what--is Proty?"

"So the things that you painted are moving around in the paintings? Are they leaving the paintings?"
It might wind up being nothing more than supernatural cartoon animation. Hopefully.
Re: Early evening
She hesitated for a moment. "Are curses difficult to make?" No. She still didn't believe in them. Not really.
Re: Early evening
River's second question caused Giles's brow to furrow. To crease even.
"Yes. Curses are incredibly difficult to create. Contrary to popular belief, they can't be cast in the heat of the moment. One must take time and make preparations for the curse to be truly effective." Now Giles's brows raised and he leaned forward on crossed arms across the counter.
"Not that you'd have any need of that. Right?"

Protections actually stand up to more, shall we say, wear and tear, than a curse. They're not nearly as easily broken."

Re: Early evening
"I could put a protection on you that would shield you from the people looking for you. They could look straight at you, but still not see you. Or I could cast a spell that wouldn't affect whether they can see you or not, but would burn themselves badly if they tried to touch you. There's even a protection that would stop them from being able to touch you at all.
"That being said, I tend to like the "See Me Not" spell, myself. It works well, avoids a lot of violence, and I've done it many times.
Giles had begun wandering around the store as he lectured. But now he stopped and turned to River.
"I'm sure you haven't missed that I've said I in conjunction with all of these. These are semi-advanced magic that someone who didn't even believe in magic last week shouldn't attempt.
"There are charms and whatnot that you can make, however, that will allow you to participate in your own defense.
The mun needs time to research them, though. But I'm going to need time to collect that information."In the meantime, try not to go off by yourself much. Stay with others. Especially if they're bigger and stronger than you and can protect you from the people looking for you." Something suddenly occured to Giles.
"River, are the people looking for you also psychic? Can they read minds, too?"
Re: Early evening
His last question made her frown, however. "I... don't know," she said, just realizing she didn't. "I just remember... blue hands. Cold eyes."
((ooc: sorry for slow reply. Went away for the weekend.))
