Fandom Preserve, Thursday Afternoon

Trees, fresh air, sunshine. Sam inhaled the smell of fresh-cut grass as she walked down the road from the school towards town, with vague ideas of maybe getting an iced something with caffeine and checking out whether All and Sundries had fox toys once she got there.
She wasn't loving the humidity, though. Even in her shorts and tank top, she was already working up a slight sweat as she walked.
***
Janet stomped along the path, on her way back from this week's Wilderness Survival workshop. It was already warm. And humid. And the fact that she was wearing a homemade fur bikini and a fur sarong wasn't helping matters.
When she saw Sam, she froze and looked frantically around for someplace--anyplace--to hide.
***
Sam stopped dead and stared, then broke into a huge grin. "That's an...interesting look for you."
***
Damn. Caught. "It's a ridiculous look for me," said Janet, glancing down at her outfit. She stuck her tongue out at Sam. "Callisto decided we needed to learn how to make our own clothing in case we were trapped in the wilderness for an extended period of time. Also, I think I overheard that Cameron got her mad yesterday."
***
"What about the clothes you were wearing, since I assume you didn't go to class dressed in that?" She grinned wider and pulled a digital camera out of her pocket, snapping a quick picture. Daniel would thank her. "Please tell me you wore clothes to class."
"Cameron got her mad?" Sam made a mental note to talk to Cam about practicing his long distance running. He'd need it at the academy if he didn't learn to stop mouthing off.
***
"Of course I wore clothing to class!" exclaimed Janet, flailing at the sight of the camera. "I hate you for that, by the way. She confiscated it. I'm going to think of a very good way to get her for this by the end of the workshop."
"I don't know the details; I decided it was safer not to ask. Otherwise she'd have confiscated everything." If you looked closely, you could see green satin under Janet's fur clothing.
***
"Can't you just let it go?" Sam suggested, heading for the shade of a nearby tree, "I mean, Cal's probably been through a tough time lately, with Angel leaving and all." She carefully sat down on the grass. "I mean, how would you feel if someone got revenge on you for things you said and did while you were annoyed at Daniel?"
***
"You're not suggesting I be virtuous and forgiving in the face of petty tyranny?" asked Janet, sitting heavily on the grass near Sam. She didn't have to be careful with this outfit, at least. "Also, she stuck me on the cheerleading squad." Janet sighed. Not that Sam wasn't right, but still. "You'd be far less reasonable and mature if this were happening to you, I'll bet."
***
"I thought I was," Sam said, smiling a little. "Um, any reason you're wearing a sarong and a bikini, by the way? I saw the cheerleading practice the other day. You were cute."
"Didn't I tell you about setting the kitchen on fire two weeks ago? Not that I didn't have help, but thank god Anders brought his fire extinguisher with him." She plucked at some grass and let it scatter on the breeze. "Crepes are evil, in case you're wondering."
***
"You are, darn it," groaned Janet. Okay, so she was exaggerating the reluctance a little. "Because if I was going to be forced to make my own clothing out of fur, it was going to look at least slightly attractive." She made a motion as if to pull her knees up to her chest, then realized what she was wearing and shifted so she sat with her legs tucked underneath her. "Cute. I hate being cute. You're the one who always manages to look glamorous. I get cute."
"You didn't! Sam! I swear, one of these days I'm going to show up just to watch you try to cook." Janet giggled. "I can't do crepes either, you know. Pancakes, sure, but not crepes."
OOC: Interaction between Sam Carter and Janet preplayed via e-mail; we'll be finishing up in the comments when we both get home tonight.

"Oh, I totally did," she groaned, putting her head in her hands. "I'm surprised Piper let me back into the class."

"If I were still Catholic, I'd write to the Pope and suggest he canonize her," said Janet. "Wait, could you canonize a witch? I don't see why not. Anyway, I'm sure it's not that bad. You're probably learning a lot."
