Luke's Diner: Evening After the Game

Luke took over the evening shift and made sure that the grill was good for hopefully a large after-game crowd.

[ooc: Luke is open for business. Feel free to mod NPC staff but not Luke himself]

Jamie opens the door for Marie as the enter the diner and takes a seat. "Seriously. You were the best cheerleader there. I could hear you better than anyone."

Marie is blushing, naturally.

"Thanks," she says. "It was a lot of fun! And you guys won!"

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'm actually amazed I made a shot," Jamie said scratching his head in amazement. "At least I'm pretty sure I did. It's weird to have memories of playing the game and watching the game at the same time. It makes things very non-linear."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"You did!" Marie assured him with a grin. "The last shot, in fact, which means people will remember it."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks. I'm sure it went in only because of the positive support I received from our cheerleading team, which was excellent by the way." Jamie said waving for someone to take an order. "And I don't know about you but I'm starving!"

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Marie nodded. "I didn't eat much before the game because I didn't want to cheer on a full stomach."

She smiled at the server and ordered a chocolate milkshake.

"Yeah I just had a light lunch of pasta before the game," Jamie said after ordering a cheeseburger and soda. "So I'm definitely ready for more. So have you cheered before coming to FH?"

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I cheered at my junior high," Marie said. "Plus I've been taking ballet lessons for several years, so I have a dance background."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Well it shows," Jamie said with a grin. "Unlike you my experience with basketball is from playing with other mutants. It's quite a different experience when the other team can shoot plasma blasts at you or can fly."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Seems kind of unfair for people to use their powers in a game like that," Marie pointed out.

The server brought over their drinks and Marie, having finally decided what she wanted, ordered a chicken sandwich.

"Well everyone had powers so it wasn't really that big of a deal," Jamie said with a shrug. "Plus the people I played with are a great bunch of people. Kind of the closest thing I had to family."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? Where did you meet them?" Marie asked.

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Jamie chuckles. "Well I met most of them after going slightly insane and went on a rampage through New York City. After that I stayed at a school where they teach mutants like us how to use our powers safely and met most of them. Then I hung out in Scotland for a while and hung out with other mutants there and worked in a lab."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
"There's a school that teaches mutants how to use their powers?" Marie said. "That's rather progressive."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"It used to be bit of a secret," Jamie said pouring some ketchup on his burger and fries. "But now they have a global effort to help all mutants everywhere. The headmaster is really big on peaceful coexistence of mutants and humans."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, wow, that's really neat," Marie said. "I wonder if that exists in my dimension, since you said you had the Mutant Registration Act."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
A dark look crossed Jamie's face. "I hope so. Do you have any superhero teams in your dimension?"

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Not that I've ever heard of," Marie said. "But that doesn't mean we don't."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Jamie drummed his fingers on the table for a moment. "So what do you think of the mutant registration act?"

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know," Marie replied. "They really only started talking about it a few months ago and since I didn't think mutants even existed until I came here, I really never formed an opinion."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you know a mutant now. Does that make a difference?" Jamie asked gently.

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess it does," Marie said. "I don't really know what they want the act to do," she admitted, "but I'm guessing from what you said about it in your world, it's not good."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Well where I come from they wanted to register who was a mutant, what their power was and make it public," Jamie said. "Basically making almost everyone a target."

Then realizing that the topic is a bit of a downer he added. "But at least I've given one person a positive mutant experience."

[identity profile] untouchableskin.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Marie felt vaguely horrified at Jamie's explanation, but forced a smile. "You certainly have," she agreed.

Just then, their food arrived, and they made small talk about the game while they ate.

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
And after the food there was more small talk about friends and class as they walked back to the dorm.
