"Hey River!" Tim greeted her. "You okay? The radio said you were hiding under your bed."

"I've come out from under the bed," River replied smiling. "Cheeseburger and custard, please. How are you?"

"I'm good." Tim said preparing her order. "I got some bad news a few days ago and caught the Emo, but I seem to be over that now."

"What bad news?" River asked, although she had some idea from reading his mind but the mun hasn't but she didn't wan't to be intrusive.

"Oh," River said. She thought for a moment. "You know anything about magic?"

"Little bit." Tim said. "Some of my best friends are magical creatures. Plus I've got a magic sword in the weapons locker."

"Sort of," River replied vaguely. "I'm not that familiar with magic myself.

"It all came kinda suddenly to me." Tim said. One minute I'm not sure I wouldn't have decided someone was crazy for saying they saw ghosts or Faeries, and the next I've got a Banshee getting me into trouble." Of course she'd managed to get him out of a lot of trouble as well.

Laughing, River said: "Life can surprise you." There was a hint of sadness in her voice though.

"Yes it can." his mind flashed back to the images of the towers in flames. "Not always good surprises."

"No, not always good," River agreed. "But sometimes they're good." She looked at Tim and smiled.
