The Preserve, Sunday Evening

Joxer had decided that a nice walk through the forest would be an ideal thing for his date with Kaylee. He had a flask of water on his person, as well as a pouch of berries, in case there was a need for provisions. Mainly, he just wanted to be around Kaylee, and hold her hand some more. Oh, and talk. And some other things as well, but he wasn't in a rush or anything.

He was ready to take his time.

Kaylee didn't mind the walk through the forest. She just liked spending time with Joxer. "This is nice. Wonder if we'll see any strange animals. I heard there are teal deer out here."

"Don't worry, I know my way around this place," Joxer said. "Just hold my hand, and don't let go, and we won't have to worry about getting lost."

Kaylee grinned and took Joxer's hand. "I have no problem with that."

"Good," Joxer said. "And in case the wildlife isn't friendly, you can be assured that I'll do everything to protect you. My hands can be lethal weapons, if I want them to be."

"Good to know," Kaylee said. Then she added, seriously, "You think there could be unfriendly wildlife?"

Not that she was scared or anything. Really.

"I've not seen any during my wilderness workshops," Joxer said. "So I think we'll be safe. But if you want to stay close, I wouldn't object."

"I ain't gonna object either," Kaylee said, moving a little closer.

Joxer smiled. "So, what's the future like?" he asked. "Is there no more trees, just forests of machinery things, or something else entirely?"

"The future's not so different," Kaylee started to explain. "Technology's much more fancy, but a lot of the planets still have trees and flowers and such. Not earth, though, cause it got all used up."

"Wait, you're saying people moved away from Earth?" Joxer looked at Kaylee. "That's... wow. I can't even begin to start thinking about that."

"Still plenty of time before that happens," Kaylee said. "What's the past like?"

"Less technology, for a start," Joxer said. "Less big buildings, less a lot of things. Not that we were all living in caves, but things have changed a lot. I barely know how to act properly. And don't get me started on the plumbing thing."

"Sometimes, I barely know how to act properly," Kaylee admitted. "There wasn't any plumbing where you're from?"

"We had to get water from streams and wells," Joxer said. "And well, I could talk about other arrangements, but it doesn't feel right talking about poop with a pretty girl."

Kaylee snickered. "Yeah, that I'll have to agree with."

Joxer nodded. "So I'm going to stick to more happy things, like how you're the most beautiful in the world, past, present, or future."

Kaylee grinned. "I'm still not used to people sayin' things like that to me."

"Well, I'm not used to saying them," Joxer said. "Because I hadn't met you until I came here. And I would be lying if I said it to anyone else."

"I'm glad you came here," Kaylee said with a smile. "And you can keep saying things like that anytime you want."

"Okay," Joxer said. "I like saying them, so I'll probably do it a lot."

He stopped when he realized it was starting to get darker. "You know, I didn't think to bring a torch. We probably don't want to end up stuck out here in the dark."

Kaylee nodded. "Yeah, that would probably be a bad thing."

"So, I guess we'll have to head back now," he said. He paused for a second, and gulped. "Unless you can think of anything we could do out alone in the dark woods?"

"I dunno, the dark woods are kinda scary," Kaylee said, totally pretending to be afraid.

"Can you think of anything?" she added, moving even closer to Joxer.

Joxer moved to put his arm around Kaylee. "Well, I can think of a few things, but I think we should start with a kiss."

"A kiss sounds good," Kaylee adding, leaning in to do just that.

Joxer leaned in as well to meet Kaylee with a nice, gentle kiss.

But then his hormones kicked in, and he totally made a grab for her butt.

"Gonna blame that on the dark?" Kaylee asked, snickering a little.

Joxer bit his lower lip. "I guess my hand slipped," he said. "Unless you, um, want me to do that again?"

"How 'bout you just kiss me again instead?" Kaylee suggested.

Joxer instantly made sure his hands were nowhere near Kaylee's rear and leaned in.

"Well, you don't have to tell me twice."

Kaylee grinned. "That's good."

"If there's ever anything you want from me, just go ahead and ask," Joxer said. Then he kissed Kaylee again. "I'm very capable of doing whatever you need."

"I don't doubt that," Kaylee said. "Kissing is good...for now."

Joxer smiled, took Kaylee's hand, and kissed the back of it.

"Well, as much as I wouldn't mind standing around here in the moonlight with you, kissing and talking, we probably should start heading back before it gets too dark to see the way out of the forest."

"Yeah, probably a good idea," Kaylee agreed. "I had a nice time."
