The Perk - Thursday Lunchtime

Peter waited for Willow outside the door of the Perk.  He was playing with a ribbon as he waited, threading it through his fingers then wrapping it around them.  Not that there was a reason for that or the smile playing across his face.

Willow's hair was in a ponytail instead of a braid, but she still had her rose ribbon on. She'd tucked a few buttercups into the bow as well.

She gave a curtsey - patterned skirt today - when she saw him. "Sir Peter."

Peter looked up with a big smile and bowed. "Good afternoon, Lady." He opened the door for her and prepared to follow her in.

"Very good afternoon," Willow said going inside. She started studying the menu. "Did you have a good class today?"

Peter placed his hand on her shoulder for a second before taking a seat next to her. "It was fun, but I'm glad I'm not claustrophobic," he said. "We were in a really small dark maze."

Willow smiled at the touch, then looked worried. "Small dark maze? Were you rats?"

"No...I have yet to be an animal," Peter said, happily. "We just had to find our way out."

Since he was sitting right in front of her, Willow was obviously teasing when she asked, "How'd that work out?"

"I'm still there, of course," Peter replied. "This is my doppelganger. You didn't know I had a twin like Dean and Alec?"

"Really?" Willow asked. "I thought I noticed you looking strangely cuter today."

Peter wrinkled his nose at her. "Or maybe you've suddenly developed the need for glasses?"

"Let's see." Willow scootched over to sit in the chair next to him, then sat so that they were nose to nose. She pretended to be nearsighted. "Oh! There you are! Yes, you're your usual hideous self, I can tell now."

Peter kissed the tip of her nose. "It's a good thing I'm teaching you swordwork and not archery then."

She giggled. "Very true. I'm glad you are no longer stuck in a maze. Yay for getting out safely, and with all limbs intact."

"I'll second that. How was your morning?" Peter asked.

"I spent some time on the computer," Willow said. She was back to reading the menu, but now she was watching his reaction carefully from the corner of her eyes.

Peter didn't see anything out of the ordinary about that so he nodded. "I should have guessed," he said with a grin.

"Unusual for me, I know," Willow said. "I researched some stuff."

And Peter may have started to catch an undercurrent of something he couldn't quite figure out. He masked a slight tensing by cocking his head at Willow. "Did you find anything interesting?"

"Depends on your definition of interesting," Willow said. "I looked up stuff on flowers."

Peter blushed and ducked his head. "Did you indeed? I hope you weren't offended."

Willow looked hopeful. "You meant what they said? Really?"

"I had to look up some of them because I couldn't find the Narnian flowers, but that's one thing Ed and I had to learn after Edmund accidentally gave the daughter of the Archenland ambassador a hollyhock on a whim," Peter paused then smiled. "It means 'overweaning ambition.'. So yes, I knew what they were saying and wanted to say that."

"Oh," Willow said, her eyes shining. She leaned over to give him a soft, lingering kiss. "Then I wasn't offended. I was honored."

Peter kissed her back. "I didn't think you'd look them up, but I probably should have guessed that. I'm happy you were pleased."

"I was very pleased," Willow said. "Should I not know? I could pretend I hadn't looked them up. I was pleased just to get such pretty flowers. I could not know what they meant if you're not ready for me to know that."
