Walter was there for the lunch shift, and in a good mood. Hopefully there would be no toothbrush kitchen cleaning, but if there was, he was ready. Possibly because he'd brought some cleaning supplies with him in his knapsack.

Wadsworth would be in for the dinner shift.

As promised, Nadia showed up for lunch. It wasn't actually raining yet since it didn't start doing that until her mun had to drive an hour to an interview, wtf?!!, but it was threatening to, so she had her poncho with her.

Poor poncho, it still hadn't quite recovered from the pudding.

Walter smiled and glanced around for Alfred before coming up to Nadia. "Good afternoon, miss, may I show you to a table?"

Walter showed her to an outside table that was conveniently situated under an awning. Even if it did start to rain, she'd be dry.

"I think Alfred is otherwise occupied today, but I brought cleaning supplies, just in case."

"Good idea. And if he shows up, I'll insist on helping. I have a lot of experience cleaning things." Even if all that experience was almost six years out of date. But they'd had a regular schedule of chores at the orphanage.

Walter shook his head, but didn't argue even if he didn't intend to let her do his cleaning anyway. "Do you want something specific today, or should I surprise you?"

After a brief consultation with the chef, Walter returned with beef enchiladas with red chile sauce (http://www.pepperfool.com/recipe_home.html).

"I'd stay to eat with you, but Alfred has been a bit stricter recently. I don't want to give him any excuses."

Nadia was delighted with the food choice, though disappointed at the lack of company. "Okay. I don't want to get you in trouble."

"I'll be back in a few minutes. I may have to do some work for the dessert chef. Sampling his latest creations requires the sort of focus where I have to sit down."

"Do you want to be the guinea pig for the chef's latest creations? I know it's a sacrifice."
