Aereopagitica: Wednesday [6-28]

Lana opened the store a little early today. Piper had ~~handwavily~~ asked if some people could come in while she was there and do some research into this whole ghost thing and she was more than happy to help.

Whitney had spent the night whispering into her ear about how wonderful it would be if they were together again so she hadn't gotten much sleep and was feeling a bit desperate.

Lana's set out some tea and coffee and pastries as well.

Clark grabbed a few books about Ghosts, okay more than a few. He sighed. Lot of material to get through. To his surprise, he found himself able to read, almost as fast as he used to.

Whitney's here too...

After the wake-up with Cole this morning, Phoebe decided that checking up on Lana was a good idea. Maybe she could convince her to stay with her in the attic until this was over.

Lana smiled at her a little wanly. "Hey, Phoebe."

Phoebe handed her and iced mint mocha. "Hey, hun."

Lana accepted it gratefully. "Thanks, Pheebs. I don't think I slept really at all last night. He was either whispering or I was waiting for him to."

"I kind of figured." She watched her friend. "You're not the only one."

Lana nodded. "Piper ~~handwavily~~ said something about it last night. She asked if it was okay if some people came to research the problem here today. Which is why I've got the drinks and pastries set out."

"I woke up to Cole crying out this morning," Phoebe said quietly.

Lana looked horrified. "Not Cole, too. Oh God, Phoebe, that's terrible."

Phoebe nodded, not allowing her to see how this was tearing her apart that the two people she was closest to besides Piper were being hurt like this.

"His is a witch that he... killed... when he was young."

Lana gasped. "Oh no! And after everything he's done lately trying to be different."

Phoebe nodded. "It's upsetting."

Lana hugged Phoebe. "I wish there was something I could do to help, but I can't even seem to help myself."

"I'm here to help you this time. Before, you've helped me. Now I help you."

Lana sighed with a bit of relief. "That would be so nice. I'm mostly scared when I'm alone. He's just so relentless, even when I'm trying to sleep."

Despite his frustration with the hotel at the moment, Clark had more important and urgent matters to worry about. So it was, he came into the bookstore with a thermos of hot chocolate, and one with hot soup for lana.

Lana managed a smile for him even as Whitney growled. Clark again? What the hell is it with you and him?

"How are you feeling?"

"Hanging in," she said a little unconvincingly. "It's just hard."

"Well, I brought you some cocoa and soup." he said, looking a bit sheepish. "When I was a kid those were the cure-alls Ma made for me."

"Really?" Lana said, looking oddly delighted. "That's so sweet of you. Thank you, Clark!"

Clark's smile got a bit less sheepish. ~~and the cocoa is laced with an anti-psychotic to get rid of those pesky hallucinations.~~

She reached up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "You're so good to me. I don't know how I can ever thank you." ~~Which would send her really over the edge!~~

"No need Lana. No need."
