Agatha Opened the store. SHe has been distracted lately, working on something very small and delicate. All day if anyone comes in, her head is bent down to the workbench.

John walks in, kinda sneeeeeakily. He hopes that she had not looked under the tarp, and that he acutally tarped the whole thing.

Which is why he's here, to tarp the thing under the tarp.

Agatha looks at John. "Hey. What's up?"

JOhn doesn't look striken, or caught, or anyuthing else. "Um. The sky?" He shuffles over to the thing that is not fully tarped. "WHatchu doin?"

Agatha is now givign John her full attention and also, lookignat hte tarped thing. "A ring watch. Whatcha doing here? it's nto your turn to work or anything...:"

"A ring watch? Wazzat?" Totally not flipping tarpy things over stuff. Nuh huh. "Um... just some unfinished business."

The tarp did not move indignantly. THat's just teh wind, blwoing through a figment of your imagination.

Agatha showed him a sketch of a watch, set in a ring.

"What's that you got there?"

"Nice. That's some delicate work. DOn't think I could do it."

John flipped a corner more-coveringly. "This ol' thing? That project I was working on."

"So... I want to take that Jewelry class. If you want me as a student again."


Was thinking of auditing it, but now I'd rather take it and torture poor John with melty solder burns. mwahahaha

"Sure, you may have fun. It is more fine detailed work again, but you can get soem useful skills out of the deal."

"Yeah, I'm out of touch on fine details. Haven't soldered or wired anything in about a year now, maybe longer. Gotta keep my touch. So what kinds of jewelry?"

"Really any kind you want. You will see." She smiled. "You also avoided the question. what is that you got there?"

"So we can make rings, and necklaces and all that? NIfty." John adjusts the tarp without looking at it or her. Why does that tarp keep moving like that? There must be a breeze.

"Yes. Pendants, earings that sort of stuff." She reached over and lifted the tarp to see, as he was clearly hiding something.

"Tha'd be swee--shit."
John's project waved.

Agatha just stared and blinked. then she slowly turned and stared at John.

John covered the thing up again, but it moved and dislodged the tarp completely.

Standing (well, crouched, really,since it doesn't have any legs/feet) there was a pair of arms and a long flexible tail mounted to what appeared to be the torso section of a suit of armor. The articulated chest and back plates held control modules and such and the whole thing was designed with the weight (arms and tail) to be centered around the hips, giving the wearer an insectoid look similar to a scorpion or dragonfly.

It strongly resembled a Dingbot or Agatha's combat defense clank thing.

Agatha jsut stared. "John, when did you make this? And how?" she inspected the thing closely.

"When? I started it after the thing in the cab--when I hurt my shoulder. How? I just kinda copied your designs. The dingbots helped. Some." It mostly just sat there, shifting slightly when John came near.

"Well, what does it do?"

"It's a second pair of arms. And a tail. See, after theshoulderthing, Iwanted something that would at least enable me to fight...something, and this seemed toeb the bestway.It's not perfect, but it works." The thing preened a little.

"I see." Agatha looked at the thing more critically. "Is it aware?"

"...I'm not sure. I copied the dingbots as best I could, but I haven't tested."

"I'm not sure if I want a yes or no answer." he said, half audibly.

"Well, put it on, and see what it does."

John walked over toit, and started hitting switches and levers. The thing sprang up, balancing on the tail and arms. John slippedinside, centering the weight on his pelvis with shoulder straps to support some of theweight.

He does not look totally like a gaslamp fantasy Doc Ock.

"Does it move on it's own? Does it tell you where to go?"

"Kinda. It's got limited autonomy, as best I can tell based off your designs."
