Cafe Fina, Saturday

Alfred opened up Cafe Fina on Saturday with a cautious eye on his new neighbor. He seemed a nice enough sort, but the date on his chinese newspaper had not escaped Alfred's notice.

If Alfred appeared distracted, it was because he was planning his first class.

Once she'd finished unpacking, Daisy set out to explore the town. She made it as far as the restaurant across the street.

Daisy loved restaurants. There were just so many accidents that could happen, there.

Alfred, in his usual act of super stealth, appeared at Daisy's elbow. "May I help you, Miss?"

Daisy did not jump. It was a near thing, though. "Goodness, you're a sly one, aren't you. I'm Daisy. Daisy Adair."

Alfred nodded. "Pennyworth. Alfred Pennyworth. And yes, I am very sneaky when I want to be." He gestured to a table. "Can I show you to your table, Miss Adair?"

"Certainly." Daisy looked around the restaurant. She did have some cash with her, fortunately. "This is a very fine establishment you have here, Mr. Pennyworth."

"Thank you," Alfred said. "I'm quite proud of it. I take it this is your first time here? Are you new to the town?"

"I just arrived this morning, in fact. I'm apparently going to be teaching at the school."

"Oh? You're the second new teacher I've met today," Alfred said, pouring a glass of water for Daisy. "What will you be teaching?"

"Drama. I'm an actress. Who else did you meet?"

"The Doctor. Did you see the man sitting in front of the blue police box across the street?"

"Oh, yes. I'm living with him, in fact."

Alfred raised an eyebrow, but said nothing. "Well then, Miss Adair, what can I get you to eat?"

"Well, I'm sure I don't know. I haven't seen the menu, yet."

Alfred laughed. "Why don't you order whatever you would like the most, and I'll see if I can't find a way to fix it up for you."

Kiffany would have had a very calm looking heart attack if she'd done that.

"A salad would be wonderful. Madarin chicken, with those little oranges?"

"Done," Alfred said. "Anything to drink?"

"Coffee would be delightful. Black, please."

"Black as the night," Alfred responded. He disappeared for a while before returning with Daisy's order. "Was this what you had in mind?" he asked.

"Perfection." Daisy raised an eyebrow at Alfred. "You must have quite a cook, back there."

Rube would absolutely love this place.

"The best," Alfred said. "All of them. And they haven't been stumped yet."

"That's quite a claim there, Mr. Pennyworth. Are you certain that's one they can hold up?"

Alfred shrugged. "I believe that they can. Our mutual friend the Doctor seems quite determined to do so."

Daisy had a sneaking suspicion that if anyone could, it was the Doctor. If nothing else, he could order from a planet that Alfred's cooks had never heard of.

"Well, best of luck and compliments to the chef, then."

And possibly wondering if he should scare the bejeesus out of students on the first class or just invite them over for food.

Wadsworth is all too glad to not be teaching anyone. If only he knew of the secrets that were passed during class.
