Sunday Morning, Weasley's' Wizard Wheezes
Fred hit the alarm clock as it tried to rouse him and buried his head in the pillow. It had been a long night. It had been a long weekend. Ever since Pippi and Molly had come to visit him on Friday. But it was done--he had managed to train it. Fred heard a quiet slinking somewhere around his left ear and turned his head. The slinky had crawled onto the bed and was softly nudging his shoulder! He sighed and resigned himself to getting up. He sat up in bed and petted the slinky.
"It's a big day for you, isn't it?" he said to the slinky, more rhetorically than not, but the slinky wagged happily.
"Well, come on then, let's get in some last minute practice, just so you're ready." Fred threw on his work robes and headed downstairs, the slinky slinking along behind him.

"Thank you," said Fred dryly. "Good day, Molly."

[ooc: did you actually stomp on the mat? if you did, it screams loudly in agony, cursing violently. if not, it just shudders]

"Well, let's see." He turned and looked down, behind the counter. "Come on out, it's okay."
The slinky shuffled timidly around the corner, it's back end still behind it, as though hiding.
"It's alright, they're not going to hurt you," Fred coaxed.
The slinky continued around the corner, slinked to Molly's feet, and sat, waiting.

Actually she may be making a very high pitched and soft "EEeeeeee" noise.
She's also got her hands up and her fingers curled into fists which are waving back and forth. (Much like Wallis when he talks about "cheese".)

Fred beams at it.

After a moment of wide eyes staring, she crouched down and held out her hand. "Hello there, little slinky. Aren't you just the cutest thing ever! How are you today?"

"Hop on," Fred said, "It's okay."
The slinky hopped obediently onto Molly's hand.
"Hold your other hand next to it," Fred said.
[if molly does so, the following happens]
The slinky slinked forward and backward between Molly's hands for a few minutes, then stopped, waiting for praise.

"Set it down, and we'll have it do a turn around the shop. I've got a set of stairs in the back going up to my room," said Fred.

The slinky slinked away from them, toward the back of the shop, where a narrow set of stairs led up to Fred's room. Fred followed it, beckoning the girls to follow. The slinky continued to slink toward the stairs, finally reaching them. It wiggled a little and then slinked one end up the stairs, then the other, over and over, until it had reached the top. Then, it slinked back down the stairs and now sat at Pippi's feet, waiting for praise. Fred beamed at it again.
"Well done!" he exclaimed. He turned to Molly and Pippi.
"So," he asked, "what do you think?"

"Oh you're soooooo wonderful!" she squeed as she knelt down to give it a gentle pat on its... Hump.
Or whatever.
no subject
"Excellent," he said. "Now, you said you needed a hundred of these in total?"

Without looking she pulls a small drawstring pouch from a pocket that jingles slightly and holds it up to Molly.
"Who's the sweetest little spring! Who's a marvelous thing? Everyone knows it's Slinky!"

"It can be done," he said. "That's not a problem. The only thing is, the spell won't be permanent on the other slinkies--the concentration of the spell weakens, the more objects it has to affect. I don't really know how long the spell will last--I've never had to affect so many objects in such a short time, but it can be done."

"Okay!"

"Excellent! So do you have the other slinkies?"

She handed over a slip of paper while Molly started to count out the payment. (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/991248.html?thread=41517328#t41517328)

She stood up after a final pat and looked up at Fred. "As long as it lasts at least a couple hours, it'll be fine." She opened the pouch and pulled out what she was expecting to be gold pirate coins. "Do you think you'll be able to get the slink--" She paused at she looked at the money in her hand. Fred would find it very familiar looking. "Pippi? What kind of money is this?"
no subject
"Are these... galleons?" he asked.
no subject
She shruged.
"Figured I'd get rid of them while the gettin's good."
no subject
"I'm used to them, so that's fine with me."
It was fine, just odd, as Fred hadn't seen galleons since he had come to Fandom.

but her mun would have to check the bus post for the London trip to be sure. But she trusted Fred for no good reason not to be a cheat.
So she just stood there and smiled.
no subject
"That should do it," he said, depositing the galleons in the register.
[ooc: I can't be asked to do math so late on a sunday evening, so let's just say that Fred took what was fair. Pippi--do they really have it worked out how much a galleon is worth?]

Pippi also hoped that there would be a cool magic word to start them slinking.

"Hmmm... I can make a modification to the spell so that they are activated with a word and not just by my wand. I'll have to think about a good word. Any suggestions?"
