Our lady of Fandom; Sunday [7/30]
Her hangover now mostly cleared up, Rosette was looking forward to exploring the town a little bit. She particularly wanted to see what sorts of restaurants could be found. Her missionary pay was pretty impressive, and she was looking forward to mercilessly squandering it. But Chrono would have none of it.
"You can't go out on a Sunday! It's the most important day! You should stay here; I know it's been boring around here, but it's Sunday."
Rosette scoffed. "Psh. Chrono, this church caters to all faiths, and some faiths don't even consider Sunday their holiest day. Sometimes it's Saturday...and there's probably a Wednesday one in there, too."
"But yours is Sunday."
So, begrudgingly, she stayed, and polished candlesticks. She wasn't going anywhere near the baptismal fount; it had been jerry-rigged enough that it was contained, if still broken.

She took a seat in one of the pews.

She gave the girl (who really couldn't have been that much younger than Rosette at all) a smile, not wanting to interupt her if she were praying. "If you need anything, dear," she tried to sound contrite and sweet and, most importantly, holy, "just let me know."

"Who's Proty?" she asked quietly, non-judgemental. "And why did you kill him?"

Either that or this girl was just a little punk who was trying to make fun of the drunk nun. Which the church was definately not a shelter for. But she seemed sincere. Very sincere. Disraught, even, which made Rosette feel bad for doubting her.
Sister Rosette chewed her lip a little, considering before speaking. "Well...are you certain a knife to the eye killed him? I imagine it would only render him blind" She smiled lightly, setting a consolling hand on the girl's shoulder. "But I don't really know that much about octopuses...octopii..." She bites her lip again.

"There's no need to apologize; I'm sorry I can't be more help. But...well, was Proty a good octopus?"

...She couldn't believe she was saying this...

She turned back with a light smile, eyes a little watery. She couldn't believe all this crazy talk about dead painted octopii was making her nearly cry. "I'm sure Proty understands that, too."

Father Remington would be proud. Or so she hoped.

It still hurt. But she didn't fear anymore that something inside her had wanted to kill Proty.

She gave the Japanese boy who stuck his head in a smile, pulling up some line that sounded holy and nice. "You're welcome to come in; this house of God is open to all."
What religion did Japanese people follow? Maybe he was just curious and didn't really want anything from her. But, whatever it might be, it couldn't be any worse than the death of a painted octopus.

Chrono waved, then went back his work digilently.

"Yup, Thursday."
She nodded. "Thursday." Her grin was a little embarrassed now, because she realized that she was having a little trouble with days due to her "discovery" about prohibition.

((And incidentally John's taking this boy out drinking soon. You should try to get in on the action somehow. He'll be all silly.))

Again, she laughed at the age comment, a full-fledged guffaw, having to lean on a pew as she clenched her stomach and caught her breath. "Eighty! Hehehe, oh, that's good. I'm only eighteen. I probably won't even make it to thirty, much less eighty."

And then laughed again, nervous and obviously forced. She gave her hand another dismissive wave, eyes drifting away as she tried to cover her butt. "Oh, you know, this and that. The life of a nun, you know, if pretty hard on a girl, haha!"

and the girl I'm madly in love with..."no subject
It didn't take long for Chrono to drift over once he had heard where the conversation was headed. He moved behind Rosette, setting a hand on her shoulders. She instantly relaxed. "Calm down now, Rosette. You should know better than anyone that some demons are nothing to be worried about. I'm sure this...Bel, you said? Is no exception to some of the other reformed demons we know..."

Reluctantly, Rosette nodded, fingers wrapping around her chin thoughtfully. "I guess so...And I guess a random demon in an institution where one doesn't particularlly see demons isn't that odd of an occurance...." Her eyes narrowed, shifting toward Chrono a bit, who chuckled lightly. It wasn't quite a laughing matter, but he almost wanted to hug her for that one.
