Blood Gulch Arms - Thursday

When Tex opened up the shop this morning, her supplier brought in Peter Pevensie's order. It still was beyond her why anyone bothered with a bow when you could get your hands on some real weapons, but as long as she was getting paid she didn't care much. She left Pevensie a voicemail and then settled behind the counter, doing some research on her datapad.

((Shop lay out can be found here.))

Peter received the voicemail and headed down to Blood Gulch Arms in the early afternoon. He entered the store and nodded to Tex. "Afternoon to you."

"Yes, ma'am," Peter replied, pulling it out of his pocket. Su was going to have to pay him back for part of it he decided. "May I see it?"

"Yes please," Peter said with a nod as he lifted the bow carefully out of the box. He ran his hands over the length, pleased with the weight though not entirely sure of the craftmanship. Looking in the box, he found a bowstring and, glancing at her for permission, moved to string the bow.

Peter tilted his head at her. "Why not? Your armour is too strong for it to punch through?" He glanced down at his arm, glad he was wearing long sleeves for once since he didn't have a armguard with him. He slung the bow over his back and took several arrows and went into the supply room.

"Impressive," he said, taking a closer look at the armour. He glanced at the weapons and would liked to have looked more closely out of curiosity but went into the target range.

He took a lane and glanced at the target to gauge the material then smoothly drew the bow and sighted down an arrow. Frowning a bit at the action, he loosed it and made a face as it hit just the top of the target. Adjusting his stance slightly, he loosed three more, clustering them in a loose circle around the center.

"Not too bad," he said, still frowning a bit at the pull of it. He couldn't help comparing the bow to a Narnian weapon.

"The action is a bit strange," Peter said, looking at it again, trying to determine where the problem arose. He unstrung it and looked down the shaft to see if the grain was even. "Bows are better made at home, I think."

"We don't have much contact with this world," Peter said. "But next time I go home, I'll see if any are interested in making the connection if you like."

Peter smiled thinking that the chances of that happening were really less than zero. "It'll do for now. Thank you for getting it in so quickly."

Peter collected his arrows and followed her. "What's difficult then?"

"Is that where your armour comes from?" Peter asked, putting the bow back in its box and handing her payment.

Peter raised an eyebrow then grinned at her. "Just inquiring after a superb piece of craftsmanship." He nodded. "Thank you again."

"I shall. Good day," he said with a wave.

After his regular *handwavy* workout routine, Marty decided to drop by and stock up early for school supplies.

"Good morning," Marty said cheerfully at Tex. "How are you today?"

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just stocking up on school supplies," Marty said as he pulled out a checklist. "I'd like to get a thousand rounds each of 9 mm, 22 mm and 45 mm with teflon coating. One kevlar vest, extra large and... well make that two kevlar vests one extra large and one medium. And a case of flash/bang grenades."

If Marty had noticed the raised eyebrow he probably would have made a comment about the various monsters attacking the school at one time or another and how it always pays to be prepared.

"Great. There's a discount if you order in bulk, right?" Marty asked as he pulled out a credit card. "Oh and on the smaller kevlar vest... do you do gift wrapping?"

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"You say that as if there's something wrong with gift wrapping," Marty said with a small smile. "Don't you think it's important to provide that kind of service as a retailer?"

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great. I'll swing by tomorrow to pick them up," Marty replied. "And I'll take the ammo with me. Thanks."

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, just trying to make sure I'm prepared for whatever weird thing decides to attack the island next," Marty replied gathering up the boxes. "Last thing I want to be is out of ammo when robot warriors from the future decide to invade. Thanks again Sheriff. I'll see you tomorrow."
