Jeff, GOB's, Lunchtime

Angela ordered hummus and tomato on a bagel and a peanut butter cookie, then took a seat near a window. Smiling to herself, she flipped through a college guide while she waited.

"Hey you," Marty said leaning across the table to give Angela a kiss hello. "What are you smiling about?"

The fact that Marty is also smiling and has something hidden behind his back might be very apparent.

"Seeing Veronica with a hangover?," Angela lied, smiling more. "It looked like she had a more interesting night than we did."

"Depends on your definition of interesting," Marty said with a chuckle. "Hey, isn't today special? For one reason or another?"

Angela pretended to think deeply. "It's a Wednesday," she said. "We have about a week and a half before we're seniors."

She grinned and reached into her bag. "Anbd I think we've been together for eleven months as of today, right?"

"Oh really?" Marty said as he pulled out a bouquet of wildflowers from behind his back. "I guess that's why I'm carrying these flowers around. How weird."

Angela grinned at the flowers. "Bizarre," she said. "And pretty, thanks."

She leaned up for a kiss. "I might have something for you, too."

Gladly returning the kiss, Marty gave her a small grin. "Oh you didn't have to get me anything. Though if the something is another kiss I wouldn't complain..."

"That too," Angela said, not needing much prompting to kiss him again. "So should I return the CD?"

"No need to," Marty said slipping his hand into hers. "I love it. Oh and surprise of surprise? I also love the giver of said gift. Funny how that works."

"Especially because I love the persn who gave me the flowers, too," Angela said, beaming.

And then she just looked at him for a moment. "Did you ever think we would make it this long?"

"Well... we've had our rocky moments," Marty admitted. "Somehow we've always managed to work through our problems, which I have to say I'm glad we did make it this far."

Angela reached out to squeeze his hand. "Me too. And it'll just keep getting better."

She was ignoring the whole going-to-the-past-at-the-end-of-the-year thing for the moment. "Are you ready to order?"

Marty? Also ignoring any issues that might be happening at the end of the year.

"Yeah give me a second," Marty said getting up. Five minutes later he came back with a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and a cupcake with a candle burning on it.

"Just something for us to share," Marty said referring to the cupcake. "The candle just added extra whimsy."

"I'm a fan of whimsy," Angela declared. "Should we close our eyes and blow it our together? Maybe make a wish?"

"Or is that way too dorky?"

"I thought only works with birthdays," Marty said thoughtfully. "Does it also work with anniversaries?"

"Technically our anniversary is next month anyhow," Angela shrugged. "This is a ... mini-anniversary." There was a smile in her eyes as she glanced up. "I say we do it if we want to, anyhow."

Marty smiled in returned and leaned over the cupcake. "On three then?"

Angela nodded, counted off, closed her eyes and blew, only feeling a little silly.

Wishes don't come true if they aren't secret, but her wish was for many more shared cupcakes.

Marty did the same and what a shock the wish was pretty darn similar as well.

"So... do you have any plans for this evening?" Marty asked as he cut the cupcake in half."

Angela shook her head. "Just hanging out, I guess. Might call home, I haven't in a while. You?"

"Nothing planned," Marty said with a shrug. "Want to hang out together then? See if there's anything going on in the common rooms?"

"Sounds good if my mun isn't preoccupied with Tyler," Angela said. "We can play it by ear?"

And then she slapped the table. "Oh! That reminds me. Anakin's leaving in, like, two weeks. Want to do movie night with him and Rory sometime?"

"Sure! Sounds like fun," Marty replied. "I haven't talked to Anakin in ages."

"Maybe he's holed up somewhere thinking deep thoughts," Angela suggested, biting her lip. "Rory said not Friday ... maybe either Sunday or Tuesday or Wednesday next week? I'm pretty flexible."

"Any of those days work for me," Marty said leaning back in his chair. "Though I'm not sure what kind of movies a Jedi would enjoy."

"I see him liking martial arts films," Angela said with a shrug. "Rory'd know. I can't remember, was he with us that time we saw 'Princess Bride' at the Fourth Sin?"

"I don't remember," Marty said scratching his head. "Maybe? I remember Jarod, Parker, Rory and Zero being there."

Marty then slapped his hand on the table. "I know what movies Anakin would like! The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Or! Or the Bells of St. Mary's?"

Angela just stared at him. "Because of the monk thing? Or because of the robes?"

A wadded up napkin got flicked across the table while Angela groaned. "Your brain is a strange place, Blank."

"You're welcome to visit anytime, Chase," Marty chuckled. "Though we really should think about our film choices. He is from another planet after all. We don't want other aliens to think that the planet earth is filled with doofuses. Or is that doofi?"

"He's been here most of a year," Angela pointed out, grinning. "He knows we're doofs."

She thought. "Then again, if this is, like, the last Earth film he sees? We don't want it to be ErnestHarold Goes to Camp or something dumb like that."

"Well there goes one classic movie I was going to suggest," Marty said in mock-hurt tones. "I'm guessing Stupid and Stupider is also off the list?"

"Nothing where Jim Carrey makes faces," Angela said firmly. "Oh! What about that one where he's the guy who doesn't know his life is a TV show? It's weird, but it reminds me of life here. You know, with the cameras and radio and everything."

"That's a good one," Marty agreed. "Think we should show him some classical movies? Give him an idea of where movies came from?"

"Sounds good, but we don't wannt it to feel like homework, or anything." She licked cupcake frosting off a finger. "Do you have something in mind?"

"Anything with Humphrey Bogart?" Marty suggests slightly distracted by the licking of the finger.

"I like that idea,' Angela said.

And, noticing his distraction, repeated the gesture. Slowly.

Marty somehow manages not to pass out at the table.

Just barely.

Teasing her boyfriend? Good.

Watching him faint? Bad.

Angela behaves like a proper lady as she finishes her lunch.
