Sea Caves: Round about Midnight

It was midnight, and the only light came from the sliver of moon and the jittering spotlight mounted on the boat. Levin hauled Jack out and dumped him on the sand, then started to drag the boat out of sight. "Get him in there. Now."

[ooc: may contain very very minor spoilers for the season finale of the last two seasons of Doctor Who, and rumours and wild speculation regarding Torchwood. Also, NFB, please.]

Jack stirred, flinching at the piercing sound, and cautiously opened his eyes, his attempt to sit up jerked to a sudden stop as he realised he was bound, plastic ties of some kind wrapped tight around wrists and ankles. He cast a glance across the caves, trying to understand what was going on.

And he flinched again, his head swimming with whatever they'd pumped into him. He welcomed it. It was like an anaesthetic, a muffling blanket between him and his emotions, keeping everything distant.

He started moving his wrists, his ankles, pulling at the ties, trying to scrape his hands free. Even as he felt the plastic biting into his skin, he knew it was pointless. But he kept trying.

Blinking in the darkness, sprawled across Kelso, he didn't know how long he'd been gone. He struggled to his knees, hands questing after the gun, patting across the ground until he found it. Checked Kelso, who was bleeding but breathing, and used a shoulder against the wall to pull himself to his feet. Walking was a challenge, but the wall was there and he leaned on it heavily as he carefully shuffled forward, gun held tightly between his bound hands.

A noise, a shadow, caught his attention and he froze. Not breathing as he waited. The shadow became a figure and he forced himself straighter, lifting the gun as the figure lifted a light above its head and stared at him out of clear blue eyes, bright with concern.

"What have you got yourself into?" Captain Jack stepped closer, one hand hovering in the air between them. "Will you put that down before you hurt yourself?"

"No." He couldn't stop staring at the man in front of him, and it wasn't just because he was incredible. There was something about the eyes that drew him. "Who are you?"

A half smile twisted his lips. "Simple. I'm you. Captain Jack Harkness at your service. You want to put down that gun?"

It slipped out of his fingers and he slid down the wall and dropped it in the dirt.

"Good boy." He glanced over Jack's shoulder and nodded in satisfaction. "And that's one less problem to deal with." He retrieved the gun, efficiently checking it over before tucking it in the pocket of his coat. "Hold out your hands."

Jack held them out, watching as the man - him? Was that ever going to make sense? - pulled out a tiny metal cylinder and pointed it at the plastic tie. There was a buzz and it separated, freeing his hands.

"There you go. Now come on. You're going to have to get yourself up. I can't touch you."
