Outside the TARDIS, Thursday afternoon

Right next to the TARIDS, the Doctor sat in a pleasant lawn chair. A thermos of tea was in his lap, a copy of "The Giant Boy Detective Book" in his hands, and suitcase at his feet.

A nice day for simply relaxing, he thought.

Jane was taking her lunch away from the store.

Baldrick had told her that Lunchables (http://www.kraftfoods.com/om/bn/c_Products/Lunchables.htm) were an "opiate for the masses", so she'd grabbed a bottle of bourbon and fled to the park.

"Afternoon Doc. How was your trip?"

"The trip went well," the Doctor said. "Bit of excitement and time with an old friend. Always a fantastic experience. How have you been?"

"I been." Jane answered sitting down on the ground and taking a swig from her bottle. "People here are nice, I like that... They're also very strange... But I may like that as well."

The Doctor smiled. "I suppose I should be glad of that," he said. "Probably one of the strangest, me."

"Ah, I ain't gonna argue with ya there Doc." Jane nodded with a grin.

The Doctor winked at Jane. "Been keeping yourself busy, have you?"

Jane set her bottle down and scratched her head under her hat.

"Busy, drunk, more the latter then the former." she shrugged. "Tell me about the excitement you had with your friend."

"Oh, the usual. Aliens attempting to steal priceless artifacts in order to create a super death ray in Washington DC," the Doctor said.

"Fuck I hate it when that happens."

"Everything worked out in the end, of course," the Doctor said. "Sent most of the aliens on their un-merry way home."

"A few are now six feet under, so to speak," the Doctor said.

Jane offered the Doctor her bottle.

"Eh, that's never fun. But sometimes folks gotta learn the hard way."

Daisy totally hadn't gotten lost in the TARDIS again for the last few days. She'd just been looking for the room full of clothes.

Mmmmm, clothes.

Still, she was ready to not be around clothes (blasphemy!) for a little while and thus headed out of the blue box.

"Ah, Doctor. You're back."

"Miss Adair," the Doctor said with a smile. "Sorry about the sudden absence. My help was needed elsewhere."

Daisy shrugged. "That happens when your job is so important that it takes over your name."

"Well, being the Doctor is who I am," he said. "Though it doesn't quite describe what I do, really."

"Save the universe," the Doctor said. "One planet at a time."

"Earth must need a hell of a lot of saving, then."

"I lost track of how many times I've saved this planet," the Doctor said.

"Well. Humanity does tend to be pretty dumb."

"It's the times where other folks get involved that I usually step in," the Doctor said.

"So what crisis were you solving this time? Did people die? If people died and I missed it. . . ."

"Two Humans dead, two Terileptils also deceased," the Doctor said. "A bit tragic, but it could have been much worse."
